Depends on your definition of "good ability" on the ball. He's never looked anywhere near accomplished enough to be a centre back who can build attacks. Very limited passing range.
He’s more comfortable than Sanchez that’s for certain.

I’m not saying he’s Ronald Koeman but he’s not uncomfortable with the ball at his feet.

Dier's mistakes are too frequent to be considering a good player. Has to be saved by Sanchez and Lloris far to often.

His mistakes are also never made up with quality play that kind of lets you put up with those mistakes.

He has mistakes combine with mediocre to poor play which is a bad combination for a team that supposedly has ambition.

Another interesting phenomenon is that the staunchest defenders of Levy tend to be the most rabid, abusive critics of our managers when results and performances take a downturn. (Managers he appointed, ironically)
So you were happy with Nuno?

I don’t recall our so called bot Airfixx Airfixx slinging shit at Nuno earlier in the year, and he’s Levy himself right?

Being more comfortable than Sanchez is about the lowest bar possible and yet Tanganga is still behind him in the pecking order.

Sanchez will be dropped the minute Romero gets back anyway.

Fine to keep Tanganga around as emergency cover but lets be real he's never a top 6 defender. He's never looked commanding at CB and his most noticable displays have been at full back where he can focus on where he excels: 1v1 duels, rather than having to actually build possession.

Tapping into the lucrative teenage-girl-bedroom-poster market there.

There certainly is issues with criticizing the club, it is why you get so many apologists.
I haven’t seen anyone try to defend genuine issues, plenty of people correcting bullshit claims though. Like spurs never spending any money, we do, we just spent it extremely poorly.

On the flip side of that you’ve got clowns saying people defend Levy because they come from a broken home, and consider him a father figure. You know you’re arguments are going well if that’s what you’re resorting to.

Genuinely curious who your top 5 of the season so far would be

For me the top 3 are clear:

Lloris
Son
Skipp

Then I would say these guys have clearly been better:

Reguilon
Kane
Sanchez
Tanganga
Ndombele

Romero has been much better and would be in the top group but hasn't played a ton. GLC has also been better but again in limited time.

I would then put these guys in a group with Dier as being poor at a similar level:

Moura
PEH
Davies
Winks
Doherty

And then a group of awful:

Royal
Alli

Sorry if I missed someone and left off guys like Gil, Gollini, Bergwijn who I am not sure have played enough to show much but those 3 would likely be in the Dier group.

One is it is odd that there are a few posters who don't post much but now jump on to defend Levy, maybe just coincidence but funny that after the debacle against Chelsea and with fans getting more angry these posters all of a sudden pop up here and twitter with their defenses of the club.

It's funny you say this cos the accusation has always been that the so-called apologists actually disappear after a bad result...... If both claims are to be believed then perhaps one might deduce that they're in fact never seen nor heard from... In which case; who's to say they even exist?

🤡

There is no issue with criticising the club. The issue is with a minority of people criticising the club at every single turn and resorting to absolute bullshit, or revisionist history, and repeating it day after day. It’s gotten to the point where ENIC OUT people are now being called PRO ENIC because they don’t resort to ridiculous claims.

This is an excellent point.... Something jumped the shark over the summer.

Kane thread has this in spades where "I hate Levy, but...." could often be found to have been followed up with comments like "....Yeh, but you ENIC-lovers blah blah blah".

Doing that is what drives people up the walls, not the fact something bad was said about the club.

Amen.

LOL

Yes there are people defending genuine issues- "January is tough to do business", "Covid means money is tight", "Paratici and Conte need time", "do we want crap players" etc.

There is nobody on the ENIC Out side saying anything crazy and they have all been very reasonable.

I don't think I have ever said that the apologists disappear after a bad result.
