Veretout is a bit underwhelming.

But it chimes with Conte basically saying we need bodies in even if it's not the 'perfect opportunity'.

We'd basically be getting another Skipp/PEH which is better than the current non existent back up we have but not hugely exciting.

Horrendous. Not enough goalscorers. Skipp and Kessie positions in that line up need to have players that can contribute goals and some creativity too because they is nothing coming from the rest of the team. Try again:contethumb:
Put blinders on Stevie, turn him in circles 10 times before throwing him on, and tell him we need 2 goals in 6 minutes. Never fails.

Stevie staying
Hugo extending
Ndombele going
We are gonna try for Kessie
Adama looks to be happening
Were in 5th (3rd by lost points)

Basically the only thing that excites me about potentially signing Adama is that new bodies, with fresh attitudes and new perspectives can really do wonders to break cycles of negativity and complacency.

Negativity is infectious and poisonous. Positivity is also infectious and poisonous (in a good way). Team morale in any setting is incredibly sensitive to both new and old personalities.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a good example of how hard it is to predict talents. He was supposed to be the next big "thing" and regular English international. Spurs were after him and many were upset when Man Utd came in and blew Spurs out of the water with a £45m bid + £5m add-ons. Now he's by some considered "not good" enough...

Any average scout could have seen AWB had very limited attacking ability.

There are top talents that don’t work out, but most people I know thought AWB at that price was an absolute stretch.

Ndombele is worth absolutely zero to us. Negative value counting his salary.

I’d swap him for any player that could actually provide any value.
Yep. His transfer fee should be viewed as a sunk cost with a £10m per year liability attached.
If we're short on cash flow at the moment it actual makes sense to write off his entire transfer value now rather than over the course of his contract.

Veretout for Ndombele swap… Paratici just isn’t great at these swap deals is he? I just remembered he sanctioned the infamous Danilo - Cancelo swap deal too. Fucks sake

Well there's two parts of a swap deal, right? Scouting the players is one part, but closing on what is a complex multiparty negotiation is another part. As to the second part it seems Paratici is quite brilliant.

Veretout has exactly the qualities we're missing, proper midfielder with passing range and some goals in him that's also a good free kick taker. He's broken into a loaded France midfield for a reason.

Soon to be 29, but if binning off Ndombele represents some of the fee? That's a brilliant move for me.

And sign Kessie too, why not? Auction off Hojbjerg in the summer, problem solved.

Nah...not really Doherty still sucks. Bergwijn I always thought was utterly ruined by Mourinho and am happy to let a proper coach fix him.

The Bergjwin issues has always been that he has been unhappy with his role - having mostly been played on the right wing.

He prefers to play on the attacking left. He has no interest in converting to a wing back.

So that leaves him as backup to Son - which really limits the minutes he is likely to get in the big games.

It seems like he's happy playing off the shoulder of Kane. There's a way to do this that fits.

Also, we need to be resting Son too. Plenty of games for him. Look at Liverpool as an example of a team with reasonable depth (ignore City for obvious reasons).

Issues is, that playing with the back 3; with 2 wing backs - that leaves 5 spots.

2 central mids (PEH / Skipp / Winks / Sarr )
1 number 10 ( Moura / Lo Celso / Ndombele / Dele )
2 strikers (Son / Kane / Gil / Bergjwin)

Son and Kane when fit are first name on the team sheet when fit; and if Berg wants to play here - he won't get game time in the big fixtures.

Im saying Bergwin in the hole as the number 10. We need a third name who can score and create. Clearly Bergwin has equal or better capacity at that then Moura (I'm just going to ignore the rest, as we should be doing at this point).

It’s probably been said by someone else already, but his sulkiness and overall attitude is probably makes this an addition by subtraction situation as well. He doesn’t want to be here, he’s obviously not going to play, so at some point we should cut our losses.

We really might want to consider loaning him out. If goes somewhere where he won't sulk and is excited to play, and gets himself back into form, he might actually be salable again. Even a 50/50 wages split to France or Italy for the 2nd half of this season could be wise if can show he is not totally damaged goods, and it's better than him sitting and rotting while still costing a full salary. At this point, a media narrative credibly blaming the issues on Spurs' shortcomings rather than Ndombele's would actually aid us in selling him on.

Dele qualifies for this as well.

Seemingly pleasant, cheerful fellas both, but neither seems to care at all that their football career is passing them by.
