Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

People should be somewhat realistic at the same time. Some on here expect us to spend like man city and would no doubt be bitching even if we spent more than we are now. Expecting anything more than 1-2 signings in a January window is unrealistic.

I don’t think people expect us to spend like Man City.

I would say I have been one of the more vocal people demanding players and for me if the most expensive player we bought was a Neves/Guimaeres type for 40-45m I am fine with that.

I would love to get guys like De Jong/Vlahovic/Torres but I certainly don’t expect that.

I think we could buy 3 starters for under 100m this January and solidify our place in the top 4 and give us a solid squad to add to in the summer.

There is no cheap option but we are lucky in that we have spent years going the cheap option so we can afford to spend.

Spending also comes with the bonus of CL money to offset it as well.

The dissatisfaction is not just about this window though, this window is merely the catalyst forever greater ENIC out sentiment, which in my view is both understandable and warranted

If we're shifting all 3 of GLC, Ndombele and Dele, we need at least Wijnaldum and another midfielder (preferably Kessie). Anything less is a downgrade from our current squad.
Dele and Ndombele were likely never going to feature again so I could see the rationale being something like it's one in one out: Wijnaldum for Gio.

I hope this is not the case but Dele and Ndombele were not getting any minutes anyway.

The consensus seems to be that the club was targeting LCB, RWB and an attacker this window. After Conte's meeting they added CM to this list.

Traore is the RWB
Wijnaldum/Kessie for the CM

All quiet on the LCB and attacker front though.

And the squad is still going to lack solid defense, and still going to lack a creative players. And the squad still going to lack a solid players with good end product.

We need 2 creative CM.
Obviously we won't get even one, and our game going to suffer big time.
And with Traore, we just add another player that has zero end product. Which are going to waste even more opportunity up front.

100%

If we ship out GLC and Ndombele (I couldn’t care about Dele he sucks) and end up with a Skipp-PEH-Wanks midfield that is a downgrade in terms of our quality.

We needed deals done early to help Conte in some of these games. I'm happy to wait if the links seem promising but honestly it looks like at absolute best we're bringing in Adama, which is nowhere near enough.

We're in a great position to get top four and have the manager to do it, but a couple of huge holes in this team need to be plugged. We've been pedestrian thus far. If we end up signing 2-3 players of genuine quality fair enough .. but I'll believe it when I see it.
I agree we do need those signings but I'm prepared to wait until the end of the window to see what happens. What I'm most pleased about is the sounds coming from a few sources about getting rid of some of the dross - Ndombele, Lo Celso, Dele. Might allow some incomings??

Doesn’t matter because they’ll be moved on deadline day and it’ll be too late for Levy to find replacements. We’ll probably end up with another “talent” like Gedson Fernandes on loan.

If they are moved out on permanent transfers though that would be a good thing. They’re done here and won’t pull up trees anywhere else. I know you’re using it as a branch to hit levy with as it’s only half the job but getting them out would be great. It’s hardly like they’re contributing to the team or club at all this season.

I wonder if Levy reminded Conte, "Antonio, it will take 3 years to sort this squad out. Thats 3 years of 20m a year in your back pocket!"

Conte has either been bought, or he walks. Its fascinating to watch. Throw your dignity for your bank balance, or stick to your principles and walk.

He could earn more than that at Man U or PSG and win trophies. I dont see him clearing off in February but if its a poor window and then a slow start to the summer that will likely be the pinch point, say lateJuly/early August.

This makes me peeved, irked, annoyed.

Expecting anything more than 1-2 signings in a January window is unrealistic.
Whereas this just causes absolutely volcanic, indescribable rage.

The level of Stockholm Syndrome at the manner in which we do business beggars belief.

Levy is a flagrantly, spectacularly incompetent chairman who would have been sacked 100 times over were he subject to any accountability whatsoever. Running a football club is nowhere near as hard as he makes it look.
