Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Melt comedy? Hey, at least I'm keeping it light, can't be melting all that much if I'm still cracking jokes about this calamity can I?

Feel free to list all of the reasons everyone should be joyful and optimistic about the current state of affairs though, because I'm envisaging at a pretty bleak near future for Spurs, relatively speaking of course.

How about you list why you'd think I have any concern for Eccleshare..... Then you can list why you'd think Eccleshare has any motive to dress up the last few weeks of the window...... Then if you've still got the will you can list why you felt it necessary to spin all the bullshit about strikers (that multiple people saw fit to pull you up on).

......All in the interests of "keeping it light"?

........You go first. 👍

P.s. Melt-comedy: Comedy that appeals to melts.

Hey, as long as Chicago dudes are hijacking the transfer window thread.

Do it Levy. This kid can be everything. What a mentor Hugo would be.

I was thinking the same thing! still very young and would need time to develop but very promising. I was thinking that his style is very similar to Hugo as well. He’s definitely now a sweeper keeper, but a great shot stopper and comfortable in the air around the box.

Hey, anyone remember the time we signed Michael Brown BEFORE the window even opened, think it was a Christmas Eve announcement or something. He had been ripping it up in the Championship and domestic cups for Sheff Utd, scoring lots of goals and many of them spectacular, he was the Champo Lampard at the time. As a naive child I was expecting 15-20 goals a season from him.

Yes he went on to only score 2 goals for us in total, but I'm not going to let that tarnish the memory of his announcement.

Absolute classic Levy appointment. 'Cor, he's from Juventus he must be good and it will look like i mean business'. Like Conte if we dont have any money we should have tried a different route, maybe a younger more modern thinking DoF and a coach like ten Hag. Levy wants to make us look like we mean business without backing it up. He is so stuck in 2006 and thinks you can pillage skint clubs for the modern day Keane, Defoe, Carrick, Lennon but you cant, a good championship player costs £20m and Levy doesnt have the first clue how to adapt.
Ten Hag was such an obvious choice, played the football we wanted to play and improved players. The problem I heard, from someone inside Ajax who knows Ten Hag, is that when Ten Hag was interviewed he told Levy he wanted to sell Kane to fund a new style of play.

Levy point blank refused and the interview went south. He returned to Ajax and when the board of Ajax found out Spurs weren't as interested they promptly gave him a contract extension.

Acceptably well??

No, I'd rather we got back to actually you know, sitting comfortably in the top four and actually threatening for trophies.

But I'd be happier if we had a plan, something to aim for, a goal at the end of the line. We don't have that and with due respect to Conte, he's never been in this position before, stuck with a mediocre squad not the best in the country.

Forget what he's done with Juve, Inter and Chelsea, because he's at Spurs now. The rules have changed and things aren't the same for him.

This is a guy who is so ambitious he walked out on Inter because they wouldn't back him for a go at the CL despite producing an utterly shocking performance that saw them finish bottom of the group.

Nothing Conte has experienced before is applicable to this job. We'll not be taking £40million punts on players that may or may not work out. We'll not be buying average midfielders from rivals for £35million etc.

So rather than let the hope kill me, I'd be happier off in midtable, because at least then, we'd know who we are and what to expect. And who knows, that might be enough for fan power to put constant pressure on Levy to quit.
Kind of agree with this, when Conte came in I had no hope or expectations for Spurs and he got me dreaming again and pulled me back in.

Part of me thinks the illusion of ambition is the problem, as you stated at least the mask will come off Levy for those who still have faith in him, the attendances will drop, the Spurs store will stop doing bits and he will have to accept the reality that unless he wants a half full stadium every week he is going to have to either stump up serious investment or sell up. Preferably the latter.

Piss poor from Tripps tbh.

Dembele was fucking busted and he knows that.

Good luck getting relegated.

Bit harsh. Dembele was very, very highly regarded by the squad, and maybe Trippier felt even with injury issues he could've played a couple of key games and made a difference. Doesn't sound all that different to how many people felt at the time. Selling him and bringing in someone made sense, selling and doing nothing was a disgrace, and Trippier is absolutely right to say that it was decisions like that which stopped us making that final step to trophies.

One post about how the summer we stripped a lot of attacking talent from the squad and didn't adequately replace it? That one person asked me to clarify?? Hardly a web of lies is it, and you may not have noticed but I did correct myself a few posts later.

I don't know why you have so much care for Eccleshare, I posted that his take was bullshit and why I thought so, you're the only one making a bigger deal of it than that.

Dembele didn't want to carry on.
Doesn't matter if a broken Dembele was still better, he said a few times he wanted to wind down elsewhere. Have to respect him for that.

They are only 50% fake they are trying to sign a player in the last days of the window because the selling club is desperate. The problem is it worked once so we attempt to do it every year. They are not to try and appease the fans they are Levy trying to do a deal on the cheap but football has changed since this tactic worked.

I've never despised anyone in my life as much as I do Levy. Had the footballing world at his feet with the UCL final and the new stadium opening. A chance to make his "business" (daren't call it a football team) a real powerhouse. What a fucking prat.
