Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

One thing I think we can absolutely put to bed this window, is the line often trotted out by apologists that “all clubs take their time/drag their heels with transfers, we just notice Spurs doing it more because we support them.” Nonsense.

We were in talks for Adama Traore for 20 plus days, dithered and dallied and then bang, Barca sign him in 24 hours.
We were in talks for days for Diaz, constantly getting the “it’s a very difficult deal to do but Spurs are confident of getting it done before the deadline” nonsense. Then bang, Liverpool appear to wrap in up in 24 hours. No real hassle with it whatsoever.

We’re a farce. A genuine farce.
Exactly this every fecking time “we’re working“ on a deal or “near agreement“ on a deal……pay the fucking money as YOU expect other teams to do when someone wants one of our players Bale, Berbatov & your stance over Kane, clubs won’t put up with your nonsense works both ways you tight cunt.

Rodon + Doherty + ££ for Lamptey.

Very fun player to watch but I think Lamptey is way over hyped, little end product to date and no proven record of starting a run of games.

Lol

If I wanted to, I could go to a showroom today and blag a drive with the highest priced car for a test drive, but I know full well I wouldn't be buying it. Could give a whole story to the salesman on how great the car is and I have the money for it, but its never coming home with me

That's what your dining at the top table comment means to me. Name me a top table type player we've actually signed?
In both the cases of Traore and Diaz we seem to have been gazumped. When have we ever bought a prime time top of the tree player? Klinsmann, Lineker, VDV, Ginola we’re all the wrong side of 30 when we bought them and therefore were cheap and In the twilight of their careers

I reckon the last time we bought “world class” players who were proven as such and were in their prime of their power was Villa and Ardiles in 1978.

Maybe the 100m we spent on Lo Celso and Ndombele in The wake of the Champions League Final we all thought at the time brought us to that level, but hindsight shows it did not. We are all smarter after the event.

Modric, Bale, Berbatov etc developed into world class players at Spurs. They weren’t world class when we bought them. Even Lloris developed into world class at Spurs But he wasn’t really before.

Diaz would have been as close to the Ardiles /Villa as I have seen. So let’s not beat ourselves up too much about it.

LOAN PROPOSALS REASONING:
We are likely trying to do one outright transfer. Due to ethical misconducts etc, we are left almost in limbo. Hence trying to pursue couple loans; negotiate on ‘Options/Obligation’ which is workable in this market. Timelines is almost non-existent to have everything in place before 11pm Monday. We could work one full transfer (possibly) in that timeframe, but not all.

Juventus gives us a lot of advantages for obvious reasons. Some you have to read between the lines. Paratici left on very good terms. We have first options on 4/5 players we are discussing with them.

Gazza, Lineker, Ardiles, Waddle. Archie....??

Come on man we all know the landscape and financial pecking or of the game is completely different now.

Klismann...... Is a complete anomaly over the course of a horrible decade.

Romero? (50m)
Reg? (30m)
Gil? (30m net)
Emerson? (25m)
Ndombele? (60m)
GLC? (40m)
Sess (28m)

My god, if this all represents the "bargain basement" then Blackpool & Huddersfield must be far wealthier than I ever imagined.

(A reply people may be sick of hearing; but the facts don't wash away the more times a false-narrative gets rattled out.)
Biggest problem is Levy only buying youngsters who might be sold at a profit. Look at all the teams topping logs across Europe. Having young players needs to be Balanced with Older steady "cemented" players. When our players reach 30, Levy looks to ship them out because their value will start dropping. It's Business, not football. All the "Youngsters" above were bought looking at an increase in value. Sadly they all leaving our pockets a lot lighter.

I bet I could find the exact same complaint on an Arse forum regarding Vhalovic.

That's not 'apologism'; that's just reality.

(Fine be pissed that we got gazzumped by a club that currently hold more appeal, but the self-pitying "only Spurs" stuff is trite as fuck....)

Ludovic Blas would be a decent and affordable last minute move for RW/ST rotation. Impressive the other night, and any time I've seen him the last year or so.
Blas has indeed been rather good the past year or so. And scored some big goals for Nantes. To help them beat relegation last season, and to keep them in the top half ish this time around.

But before that he really struggled and, having listened to Antoine Kombouare and some of his teammates, even the lad himself, it was never a question of ability...but to do with his attitude, his ego. He was good at Guingamp, signed for Nantes and just started thinking he was a lot bigger than he was. Took his foot off the pedal and his form really suffered, that of the team too.

But yeah, fair play to him for acknowledging that and sorting it out. That being said, what would happen if he signed for a big club like Spurs, for big money? There's a risk his ego would go crazy again.

Also, he's very light physically, so the EPL may prove a challenge for him. And it's a fact that they don't work as hard in the French clubs as we do over here in England. So I have doubts as to whether je could handle the difference in workload.

Last but not least, Nantes is said to want 20 mil for him. That's big money for a guy who's not even in the top 10 attacking players in his league.

Another Nantes player who would've been wise monitoring is Randall Kolo-Muani. Could've had him for cheap, seen as he's out of contract in the summer. But it's too late, he's going to Frankfurt, where he'll probably smash it before signing for Bayern

Sorry, the names mean nothing to me.......

2 1/4 hours of this + an hour of Gold + 1 hour of Romero + 1 or two other fan-channels that get offered up around here..... Often multiple times a week...... When it will amount to nothing more than what is already kicked around on here just sounds like dreadful false-economy. Not to mention feeding the egos and bank accounts of all these unimportant speculators that serve to whip the fan-base into a ever increasing frenzy.
I pick and choose, Gold is a decent lad but he's not exactly a gripping watch, Romero is a bit of a chancer as are a few others. I usually only listen to genuine fans with interesting opinions who aren't up themselves, an attribute that's rare these days...

He’s a much better footballer than Hojbjerg. Like you, I’m not completely sold, but he’s a definite upgrade. Whether he’s a good enough upgrade is obviously the question.
Hojbjerg progresses the game more than Benta though. That tells a lot about his style of play. He used to be one of my favourite Juve players like 3 years ago, but he's fallen off a cliff like Dele since then. (Also my favourite Juve players are weird, I still think there's a player in Bernardeschi for fucks sake...)
