Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Why do PSG need to free up a space to sign ndombele?
Because they promised DNCG (entity that monitors French clubs' accounts and can punish them if they screw up) that they'd sell players for minimum 100 mil between last summer and the winter transfer window. But so far they've only managed to sell Bakker to Leverkusen for 7 mil and get pocket change for some younguns who didn't get game time. Cause Leonardo is an even shitter DOF than Fabio and who would buy Paredes, Draxler, Kurzawa, Icardi & co knowing they're gash and/or always injured but make zillion each month in wages. So PSG are fucked and can't get rid of them. Result is, they're not allowed to add to the squad unless they get rid of their expensive unwanted first.

Personally, I think there was a deal to explore where they'd have gotten N'Dumb and we'd have received a bundle incl Gini, Kehrer and a couple of interesting youngsters...like Xavi Simons or Bitshiabu now and Kalimuendo later when he comes back from his loan at Lens.

PSG would've got Mbappe's best mate and it may have helped convince him to sign an extension. Also they'd have cleared the decks and saved a bit of cash.

We'd have gotten a proven PL star in Gini and that CM creativity we desperately lack, a guy in Kehrer who is still young and who could become real reliable under Conte, and a couple exciting youngsters who could turn into bona-fide stars in 2 or 3 years...and if not, not much harm done.

So yeah not sure how it all came to nothing when there was something for both teams to gain from striking a deal. Ah I get it...you had Fabio on one side and Leo on the other. That explains it

How many times had we finished top 4 and in the champions league before ENIC? What state was the club in when ENIC took charge?

I’m not sticking up for them, they’ve made mistakes. But they have also made us into a giant across Europe and got us to the top table. Levy has his issues, and needs to sort himself out, as does Lewis. But to pretend they have done nothing good for the club is just deluded.

The Champions league in its current form started the same year as the Premier League, 1992.
Enic bough Spurs in 2001. For most of those 9 years it was the top 2, eventually the top 3 and ultimately the top 4 that got in.
Prior to that, the European Cup was for league winners only. And immediately Prior, English clubs were banned from all European competition.
So we're no better off because of ENIC.
There was no top 4 before them. We likely finished in the top 4 plenty of times but the prize was different so less recorded

i spent like two minutes doing this!

No one’s crying. I have presented facts showing how dirty money has distorted competition.

If you read those facts you’d see that the league cup was been won by Chelsea or Man City in 7 of the past 8 years.

No one has said only two teams can win competitions but I would argue that dirty money reduces the competition upon which sport thrives.

I’ve also said none of this is an excuse for our internal incoherence.

Your angry attitude doesn’t do you any favours. Let’s discuss things in a reasonable, nuanced way :king:
You guys are getting a bit boring now to be honest with your dick measuring contest

I’ll take Bentancur as his profile fits the premier league and Conte’s system especially as he plays best in a 2 man midfield. He’s nothing incredible but would definitely be a better signing than Amrabat for that role.

I still think we should pull the plug on Kulusevski though, it will just hinder Bergwijn’s career here even more (and Bergwijn is better than him). He’s just not an upgrade and especially for a 30m future fee

Often trumped by bigger clubs.

Pissed away big money on Partey & Pepe....

Royally fucked themselves with the Ozil & PEA contracts..... Can't shift them.

Still stuck with twats like Zaka.....

Buy players, loan them out never to be seen again.....

Despite a loosening of the purse-strings; very much dependent on academy players.

..........Sounds like a familiar level of shit-show to me.
Individual deals are not as excruciating, but yeah, they've been very very dumb.

The bumper new deals for Ozil, Auba, and Xhaka after they were well aware what losers those guys were were extremely destructive moments for that club that they are just beginning to recover from.

The stroke of luck they've gotten is that Saka is the player they paid for with Pepe.

From Juve forum, since people seem to dislike Benta and Kulusevksi:

I’m unsure about selling Benta, especially if we’re about to lose Kulu too, that would mean we’re stuck with Arthur, Rabiot and Ramsey.

I’m afraid we’re gonna lack players in mind and on the flank…

Both Bentancur and Kulusevski will perform well under Conte.

Trust me, Conte knows what he's doing. Kulusevski will come good. I'm not that optimistic on Benta though, he's just so similar to PEH...

He's a prima-donna wanker... Treat him mean enough; he'll break.

There's no set hours contracted; I'd assume?
His contract will clearly state the role within the club he's employed for and the functions he's expected to perform, including training time. You cannot ask him to perform tasks and/or hours that exceed those that are reasonably expected of his peers who are contracted for the same role. That would be breach of contract and he'd be free to walk. Just like you can't move him to Lilywhite and park him in front of a computer doing data entry. Having someone under contract doesn't make them a circus animal you can force to do whatever you wish on a whim.
