Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Just entertaining the Dembele move for a second, with everyone fully fit you'd expect Dembele, Kane, Son to be the front 3. Lucas and Kulu battling it out for the wide spots. That's a pretty fucking solid attack.

Or maybe there is a surprise in the offing and Kulu is actually seen more as our midfield creative force (going by his own comments).

I'd be shocked if we play 343 with Kulu in CM.....

352 maybe but not in a 2 man CM.

So Barca, Woolwich, Liverpool and even a non league side haven't been mocking us?

Barca publicly joked about the surprise when Spurs payed that much for Emerson. Areteta and Co also made it we'll know they pulled out if a deal because he isn't good enough.

Do you really think Emerson will make a turn around? Wake Up.
I never suggested he would, I’m simply pointing out that we’re not the laughing stick of the football world, there’s hundreds of clubs that would live to be in the position Spurs are.

We’ll see. I’ve seen nothing from him which impressed me but when he’s a Spurs player he will get my full backing.

Dybala had contract issues/disputes with the board. He’s always been easily one of their most talented players and not really comparable to Kulu, the fans always rated Dybala for a reason.

But I wouldn’t want us to sign him either, to be honest.
Dybala had been shite for the 2 seasons that CR7 was there. Weirdly enough, he started playing well this year after his contract talks stalled, with the famous "I was saluting a friend in the crowd" while pointing at Nedved. Juve as a whole have regressed not because of the players, but because of the coaches. Pirlo completely ruined that squad beyond belief, and Allegri is too stubborn in his choices. What they both need is a fresh start, and they're getting it here.

So the trolling options come 1st Feb:

1) Should have signed A / B / C
2) New signings are all shit
3) Why is X / Y / Z still here
4) Should have signed another 5 players
5) Club/Owner/Manager/Players all cunts

Look sadly forward to the same lonely key-board warriors posting another 100 pages of anti-Spurs drivel .... you just know it's coming.
You think we had a Good Transfer Window? There's normally a reason some players are left without transfers before the window closes. Is not because they Great

Dembele is odd. World class talent but terrible attitude, almost Ndombele but he is at least mobile and quick I guess.
This is my fear too. With N'Dombele it's clear that he isn't fit, and if he was then he might be able to move more quickly and for longer, but more than that it looks like he doesn't give a shit most of the time, and for me that's even more important. With Dembele you might get a fitter player, but if his attitude isn't right it could impact the whole squad. We need a squad full of players who would die for the shirt and their teammates, that's the only way to be successful in the long term, to create a culture of 100% effort and dying for the shirt etc. So Dembele rumours make me nervous... :/

Surely we can't be going for another CM of Amrabat's ilk?

That would be 5 fairly similar CMs for two roles in the 343.

It would make more sense if Conte wants to transition to a 3 man midfield but then what does this mean for the attack?

Maybe we are willing to let Berg and Gil go out because we want to play 2 up top and deem Kane, Son, Kulu and Lucas sufficient cover?

Not really, only ever heard Berbatov himself mention Valencia and Bayern Munich, but I think he felt some loyalty to Leverkusen, wanted to play in the Premier League, Spurs were actively interested the longest and he liked BMJ.

If a Barca, Juve, United etc. would have been in for him at the time we would have never seen him.
We got Berbatov due to United dithering, as they waited for Van Nistelroy's transfer to real Madrid to go through. We were agile in the transfer market around that time, had better scouting; also got Modric just before Euro 2008 when he got voted best player, waiting a few months would have lessened our chances.

I reserve the right to use options 1,2,3,4 and especially 5. At any time. 😜

Fair enough, it does seem that there was interest in Kulu earlier than I thought. Mea culpa.
Good man - hardly anyone on here is willing to admit they got something wrong, as if it diminishes their credibility or status or something - on the contrary, I have much more respect, and give much more future credibility, to anyone on here who ever publicly changes an opinion or retracts something they've said etc than people who are unwilling to ever do so. I try to do the same myself. As I say, good man. 👍

I absolutely agree. I know the Dortmund setup pretty well, and they do turn out great players and run a tight ship. Players that leave seem to simultaneously get to their peak value and peak ego. Often this works out just fine (Hummels, Lewandowski and probably soon Haaland). For others it’s a slippery slope to underachiever status and failure (Gotze, Aubameyang, Pulisic, Sancho, Yarmolenko, Sokratis ).

Dortmund - A great example of selling players at their peak and re-investing wisely. Mostly. They still fuck up. Step forward Donyell Malen 🤪
Don't forget Kagawa and Henrikh. There was also Nuri Sahin.

But I love Dortmund and the way they run their club. Feels very sustainable to me. And every now and then they'll get a golden generation and really, really push Bayern...beating them even.

Shows you don't always need top money. A proper sound strategy that you don't deviate from every other year, that can really work just as well
