Ex-Spurs Player Matt Doherty

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Everton & Leeds are the two worst teams in the PL form wise. I think anyway. But I do think it's pretty clear that he's our best option at wingback, we could be playing Tranmere and Emerson wouldn't be excelling in that role.

City & Lester were good games for him too.

He's on a decent little run.

Fair fooks.

We started Emerson vs City, don't remember Doherty doing much off the bench. Do remember him making an impact vs Leicester but again, I think it was mostly just not being Emerson and actually being capable of playing WB rather than him doing anything particularly special. Still think a new RWB in the summer is needed, but I'd rather sell Emerson at this point (if even possible) and keep Doherty as a backup.

Fair enough, but the point still stands. Seen a fair few on here playing knights in shining armour, pointing the finger at those who criticized Doh in the past, even though that was totally justified
I've moaned about Doherty plenty. I think it's good we recognise when he does a good job. I think playing in Mourinho's back 4 really knocked his confidence and he's been having to recover ever since. I'm not expecting him to be the new Kyle Walker, but he's looking a decent RWB option to have alongside an upgrade on Royal for next season.

Too early to say. If he keeps shining til end of the season, then yeah. But right now it's too small a sample. Good luck to him, though. He's a decent bloke

TBH, IMO "special" sits a level below "good" as far as performances go.

Got my shit twisted about him vs City tho'..... Thought he played the full 2nd half, but he only came on at 83mins. LOL

As for ER vs MD: It's one game at a time as far as either are concerned; I dare say 'coming good' for either of them will only amount to the #2 role next season at best.

You're only as good as your last game..... And I heard he lost at Uno during last night's post-match chicanery.

Never understood the "hate" for any player in a Spurs shirt, especially if it derived from poor form.

I don't know if it's endemic to Spurs, or if you see this with other teams, but through all my years of following Spurs, there has always been a player, or players, that a large proportion of fans just want to hate.

You might note rate them, which is fair enough, but hate them?

It mystifies me.
...and now you also may end up getting hated by the "haters" for standing up for a hated player

At Inter, Conte used Ashely Young (34 years-old in 2020) @ LWB and D'Ambrosio (31 years-old in 2020) @ RWB.

Dohertinho, who just turned 30 years-old, is our best (and ONLY) RWB.

Perhaps he is a "Conte player"...

If Doherty could improve this much, wonder if Dele was really a lost cause. The first season Dele would've been very handy playing alongside kane, son, kulu and Bentancur+PEH behind
I'd look at the main reasons for the drop offs in form. Dele - too much too soon? Wrong crowd? Overweight? Fitness? Lack of desire?

I was at WHL for the game we beat Chavs 2-0, 2 best teams in the country, he scored with 2 well-placed headers. Next season we won at the Chavs for first time in years, 3-1, he scored 2 that day too. Look at my avatar.

Needs some seriously good man management and he aint going to get that from Lumpard.

So I’m currently in São Paulo to meet my girlfriends family and their first game watching Matt Doherty was yesterday. I’m reliably informed if we wanted him to have a Brazilian nickname it would be:

Dohertizinho

Needless to say after last night they are happy for me to do this, hope he keeps it up now 🤣

Maybe Dokizinho would be better, it follows the English pronunciation more closely and reducing the syllable count, H called him ‘Dok’.

Dokadona would also work :kanegoal:
