That's stretching it a bit. He's a top player but he's 33 years and none of the big clubs were after him (yes, Chelski was said to be lurking but apparently had not offered him any deal). He had a loan spell at Bayern for the 2019-2020 season and they sent him back to Inter.
He's a good signing nontheless.
He was not a LWB at Bayern, when moved there his game had another upturn when he looked to be declining as a winger

Yes, but that was partly because he could not oust Bayern's FBs. And no top-club came in for him after his Bayern stint. Don't get me wrong, he's a quality player but he won't be seen as a massive statement signing that will turn heads by others than some Spurs fans. These kinds of signings should be expected by a club like Spurs.

Perisic is such a smart signing. Free transfer and two years contract done in May for an experienced classy player that can upgrade us in several different positions.

now excited to see who we spend the big cash on

Yeah if we had him instead of peh or benta, I'd be happy, but now with a 150m war chest, and real ambition, I want the next tier up.

With a backline of perisic, bastoni, diet, Romero, an attack of son, kane, kulu. Mckennie falls short of making us truly elite.
Both Hojbjerg and Bentancur are better than McKennie for our team, I'd think. Maybe I'm underrating him, but I don't think he gets on the ball half enough to play in our midfield two.

No he went to Bayern because he didn't want to play FB, he was a winger until he moved back to Inter and then moved back. Older, wiser or more willing to listen he has now been great there.

Yes, that was one of the roles he was being considered to play at Bayern. He was brought in due to his versatility.
He did not refuse to play as a FB but he did not follow Conte's instructions (which made Conte upset).

Long way to go, but I can say there's a real feeling of optimism about this window. Not just the new potential signings, as we appear to have our striker and manager onboard... Can't remember the last time this forum had such a vibe. Love it.

The midfield pair is unusual nowadays as everyone plays a 3…… I hate PEH but he’s much improved last 4 months, Benta looks great at times but I can’t help think we can do better. Skipp seems a better option but still think we need someone who can take the ball in tight situations when pressed and turn and play. Doesn’t have to be an amazing long range passer but having the ability to run a game and demand the ball no matter what. Carrick 2.0? Declan Rice would be sweet, maybe Kane can lock him in on Eng duty and force a move to us

Noob here. Long time lurker. Perisic is mustard, and most importantly brings experience of winning trophies. His presence alone makes the signing more than worth it. Can't wait to see what this summer brings.

I honestly know nothing about Perisic. Yesterday afternoon I was texted by a mate saying we were going to get him, forwarded it to my son who got quite excited. He sent me this overnight.

He plays like he's 26, he runs more than our 25 year old on the opposite wing. He started 90% of our matches this season and never looked tired. He regularly has higher energy in the 90th than people subbed on in the 65th.

He's got great pace, quite possibly the most two footed player ever, puts in beautiful crosses, and can be relied on to cut inside and score a few bangers every year. Pretty decent in the air for a wb too. He's not a defensive mastermind or anything, but he rarely gets exposed even against top class wingers. Rarely makes stupid decisions defensively, good tackler but even better with positioning. Not the strongest guy in the world but understands how to position himself to not get bullied off the ball. Extremely versatile, can play LWB, RWB, and SS with no noticable drop in quality. I know Conte doesn't use traditional wingers, but he can play that role too if needed.

You should be ecstatic

I think it's from an Inter fan on Reddit. He uses that site a lot for all sorts (says it v good btw for Better Call Saul if there are any aficionados here)

Not many mentions anywhere of Alexander Isak. Would be a great option as our 4th attacker (can lead the line too). Has the Kulu connection at international level. Has had a poor goal return so should be available cheaper than last year. Sociedad we’re on of the Spanish sides reportedly after GLC so potentially there’s a deal to be had there. And Woolwich we’re keen so would be gazumping them.
I highly doubt he will come to be Kane's understudy for the next 4 years (if Kane does sign a new contract).
Yes, Isak will get game time - when Kane is out injured or in cup games. But players like Isak want to play the important games as well.
And apparently, Real Socided wants €80m for him.
