Only 3 points behind Chelsea. That Chelsea only lost to jammy Dippers in the cups via penalty shoot out, while Chelsea had enough chances to them twice in 240 minutes of normal time. League wise, Liverpool was there for the taking in 20-21 season. I meant thing varies every season, and as long as we improve, we can close the gap when others slip up. We're not far off from the best teams. Give us some credit. We earned our improvement, not some lucky fluke.

I think what many are forgetting s that next season five subs will be allowed.
It makes sense that likely (aside from injury) the back four and keeper will stay on, so we need strngth n depth through midfield and forward line.
We need to buy quality and stop thinking like a mid-table side for once.

Swap Eriksen for Raphinha (we don't actually need Bremer neither since Dier/Sanchez work perfectly fine for that position, even if Bremer is that good) and that's a squad tailor made to Conte ready to fight for the title.

Maybe that’s true. But we basically played one competition this year and Kane and Son, who will be 29 and 30 next, had a miracle season of health. They’ll also both be at the WC too.
Four comps, including UCL next year, we need 4 quality options up front. There’s plenty of games to go around. It’s a whole different ballgame with our fixture list.
Also Conte is going to lose his shit if in the era of five subs, he looks at his bench to try to change the game and his two options are Lucas Moura and Dane Scarlett. Another big time attacking player is needed.
I'd be fine with Eriksen and keeping Lucas instead of Raphinha since I do not think Raphinha is a serious possibility for us. Eriksen can break down a team sitting deep and Lucas is good against the bad teams we will meet in cups.
With Kane and Son entering their 30s, a top draw Argentine international striker like martinez at 24 years old for 70million is a steal in this market. Theres also a resale value to fall back on in the future.

I’ve been on the record numerous times that I’m not a huge Eriksen fan and have always thought he was overrated.
But I think he’s ideal in the five sub era and with our current squad. Bring him on for the last 30 minutes of games and let him pick apart tired defenses. Don’t think he’ll start much, but he’s an ideal sub to have to change games or chase a winning goal with.

We wont win the league next season but we will not be far off. We will improve vastly because the quality of the squad is going to improve a lot. And the purchases are either proven in the league already, or know Conte already meaning quick settling in.
Liverpool don’t look stronger yet. Weaker maybe. City do look stronger, they should finish ahead of us. But I think every team will find it hard to beat us. We will set out to seriously win every game. Every game. So we’ll see how it goes.
The current gap will largely evaporate though imo.
Martinez and Osimhen are two of the five best strikers under 25 in the world. Signing either would be a missives statement of intent and completely change the trajectory of the next few seasons.
Glad Paratici and Conte have the ambition and vision that many on here seem to be lacking. It’s great that we have amazing players in Kane, Son, and Kulusevski but we shouldn’t sit on our hands and be content with it.
If our attacking targets are genuinely Lautaro, Osimhen, Richarlison, and Raphinha we’re going to be in an incredible spot next year if we land any one of them. Really rectifying years of mistakes and unnecessary competition. Conte and Paratici coming from clubs and situations that aren’t willing to settle for second best or limit themselves is clearly being reflected in how we now seem to be operating.

Yeah, worth saying that the gap in quality between Sess and Perisic is absolutely HUGE, and that means a significant boost in overall performance.
Same goes with Bissouma vs PEH as DM. We will finally be able to play out the back a bit. Spence may not be a big upgrade on Emerson/Doc but he's a better tactical fit than Emerson.
If we get Richarlison, he'd be a massive, gargantuan, ginormous upgrade on Lucas/Bergwijn.
