Seems with the couple of early signings hopes were raised that we would snap up our targets without fuss .Of course reality strikes so bringing in who we need is a bit more complicated without paying way over the odds . I am quite optimistic we can get upgrades will wait and see and not believe all the paper talk of the various guys we are interested in .

Bergwijn wasn't a bad signing really, he's a good player, it just didn't work out. Same with Gakpo, a top club will take a chance on him in the next year and it'll work or it won't. Definitely has the ability to be as good as or marginally better than somebody like Richarlison. Had Bergwijn joined Everton I think he'd have done well enough that he'd be attracting interest from the likes of us/Woolwich now.
I think Gakpo would cost €40m or more, pretty sure they have him well tied down contract wise.
If the asking price for Spence is really £15m then that seems a fair-ish deal. If we rate him enough to be a potential first team player then its a reasonable fee. If we dont rate him enough to bid that then why are we even after him?
TBF we can probably take our time with this deal. It’s the Raphinha and Richarlison situations that the club have to act quick on.
We spent the same amount on Rodon who was no where near as proven or hyped about as Spence. I think 15m is a fair price for Spence
