Tear gas for sure.

Hardly see Raphina as being someone that's mentally strong. He seems to down tools a lot when things aren't going his way.

Maybe true but he's not on Dembele's wages - possibly a quarter if he's lucky.

ATM we seem to be off the short list for Raphinha ........ just need to wait until tomorrow to see if we knock Barcelona out of he running, who knocked Chelsea out of the running who knocked Woolwich out of the running.

Kante is declining but a combined midfield would feature Mount, Kovacic & Bissouma, based on last season Kante form.

Their midfield options are more varied, more technical & provide more goals whilst still having a ball winner. It’s a superior roster.
Their midfield options are more varied, mainly due to Mount who can play in both midfield and attack.

However all the indications are that both us and Chelsea will play 3-4-3 this season.
So on that basis the first XI midfielders are Kovacic Kante vs Bissouma Bentancur. Close.
Son Kane Kulu vs Mount Sterling Raphinha. We have the edge despite Raphinha being a gem.

They have more depth in attack though, Rich and Lucas are our back up attackers, they have Pulisic Havertz Werner (Ziyech and bergwijn likely sold).

They will buy expensive CBs, but may take time to settle in while our back 3 is already settled and could also be improved.
I think our teams/squads are very close, Reece James at RWB gives them the edge.

That would be my mixed 11, without being too biased. Not much in it between the keepers. Davies gets in on the basis he's a left footed centre-back. Kante has been the best in the world for a long time in his position but he's past his best (though still a great player) and picks up a lot of injuries, so went with Bissouma. Kovacic and Bentacur are a similar level but the latter is a bit more proven in the Premier League obviously. Havertz and Kulusevski could have also gone either way.

So that's 6 of our players and 5 for them. If Sterling signs for them I'd have him in over Havertz.

Fair.

These are the likely Chelsea transfers if this changes your XI slightly:
Chelsea will bring in Ake LCB, then either Kounde or De Ligt as an elite signing.
And they'll bring in Sterling & Raphinha up top (unless Barca find magic money tree).

With that being said, this would be combined XI:

Mendy

James
Romero
Silva
De Ligt/ Kounde
Perisic

Bissouma
Kovacic

Raphinha
Kane
Son
