Kulus deal was an obligation but it came forwards in time if those conditions were met, we were always obliged to pay (as I have seen reported).

Lo Celso was an option with a high initial loan fee, we could have walked away.
we were obliged to pay the 2 years of loan (last year and this year). then if those conditions will be met during this season (2022-2023) it will become an obligation to buy, otherwise we can decide to give him back.

for zaniolo I guess we have proposed the same type of deal, but roma want the money right now not next year if some conditions will verify (because they know zaniolo is prone to injuries)

Not sure drafting in a potential first team starter elsewhere to cover up front is great. Especially given Sessegnons injurys over the last few seasons. I think the club know this and thats why they're looking.

of course it is not "great".
First team players getting injured is never "great".
All first XI players always being fit and at their peak physical levels - that would be "great".

But it is a cover option, after main cover option has been used.
It is a team game and we have to be able to find covers for players, positional flexibility is valuable.

So, lets play through a scenario; lets assume that -
- someone from starting front line gets injured
- then Rich steps in
- then Rich or another one of remaining options get injured
- then Perisic steps in
- and then Sessegnon gets injured as well, so we need cover for LWB
- and then we still can shift Doherty into LWB and keep Perisic on left-forward OR use Moura in front-line and Perisic at LWB

If you followed the path - this situation would assume THREE separate yet simultaneous injuries that are positionally linked. And even then we would have more than one option to cope with situation.

That is really good position to be in.

Roma couldn’t afford to turn down 50m no matter what Jose says, I just do not think we have bid that much
Roma can. They're the richest club in Italy since they got taken over by The Friedkins early last year. Roma under Pallotta (their previous owner) couldn't afford their team bus.

In addition, their revenues have increased massively since the takeover. Sponsorships, attendances etc.

The deal was if he started 15 PL games and we got in CL we had to pay the fee. Believe it or not he started 14 games. He was on the bench in a home game near end of the season, think it was Burnley. Seemed strange at the time but that was the reason obviously. No flies on Fabio.

100m euro spend last season (net)
Sod all this season.

Kessie and Christensen have the right to leave Barca starting this weekend if they're not registered with La Liga by then. I'd guess they'll both wait it out and hope Barca find a way to make all 7 of their signings official, but they would have the option to leave.

What does this even say. We have reached a deal, but he is staying. Rather contradictionary (is that a word?)

There is no way that all of a sudden after weeks of negotiating that Jose has come out against the deal.

Secondly Roma can't hope to match personal terms we have offered and and finally the player can go on a free in 2024 and Roma ain't going to lose him for nowt.

The Don will get this one over the line but i reckon we will be at, or about a fee similar to that of Richarlison.

........F---U---C---K that!

What is the point of going for these more established Italian players in Serie A. We never get them over the line, so what is the point? Italian players rarely want to move from Italy. Just a pointless exercise chasing them all summer, then they sign new contracts at their clubs.

Agreed....
