Season 9 Oh Snap GIF by The Office

Not exactly true.

We still have Perisic in our books. Who has been winger most of his career.

So considering that we seem to go into season with wingback options of Perisic, Sessegnon, Royal, Doherty and Spence - at this point I doubt we will sell any of them - then we would still have 4 players left even if we use Perisic as wide-forward.

Another thing is that if we would be able to get in an attacking midfielder (like Maddisson) then other alternative would to use 2 more defensive / controlling CM's and 1 more creative behind 2 attacking players. So 5-3-2 if you will.
But yea, that would assume getting in suitable player for the role.

I would love to see Perisic used occasionally at winger. It would help get him involved more often, offer more gametime to Sess or the other WBs, and also relieve Gil of needing to be kept around for rare starts and spot minutes as a 6th attacker.

Fiorentina director Daniele Prade insists the Serie A club have ‘never talked’ to Tottenham Hotspur regarding a potential £21 million deal for Premier League misfit Giovani Lo Celso, speaking to Tuttomercatoweb.

They do say you cannot make an omelette without breaking some eggs. And Antonio Conte cannot build a truly competitive Spurs team without making the kind of ruthless decisions he is paid so handsomely to make.

Lo Celso, alongside Sergio Reguilon, Harry Winks and Tanguy Ndombele, were left out of Conte’s squad for the pre-season trip to the Far East. And as soon as Tottenham receive an offer that is to their liking for the £21 million-rated Argentina international, he will be on the first flight out of London.

But while Fiorentina have not totally ruled out a move for Lo Celso at this stage, nor are they in any mood to raise expectations.

“We have never talked to Tottenham. Not once,” says Prade, the tough-talking Viola director.

Prade insists that Fiorentina will only be in a position to make a bid for Lo Celso – if indeed they were ever planning to – by selling a couple of players first.

“The player is strong and you know that. (But) we attacked the transfer market early,” he adds. “Now, we have to make some exits. And then, if we are (able to approach Lo Celso), we will evaluate opportunities.

“But we trust in who we have. We are happy with the squad.”

Unai Emery’s Villarreal currently feel like the most obvious destination for Lo Celso. The former Real Betis talisman was a big hit on the Castellon coast during last season’s loan spell; Playing a key role in Villarreal’s stirring, giant-killing run to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

According to Marca, the Yellow Submarine tabled a £13 million loan-to-buy bid last week. One that will fall well short of Tottenham’s demands. And they, like Fiorentina, must sell before they can consider making an offer in the £20 million bracket.

Don't need a buy clause. Just need him gone for his good and ours. If it's a loan now and another loan in a year, who cares.

because in those years the EPL was something near to the actual MLS
Put the crack pipe down.

Put it in the womens thread where it belongs.
Even less relevant than all non mens non Spurs stories that get in here.

There's a number of Italians there but only a few were truly good.
And the best (Zola) joined Chelsea t 30 years old.
Outside of that, Vialli was 32. Di Canio was 28 when he went to Celtic and was probably chased out of Italy. Ravanelli was 28 and left after a year.

There's just not a good record of young, prime age Italians leaving Italy to come to the PL that turn out to be real decent players.

The original question wasn't about their quality to be fair. If you counted the Championship players as well that list though brief would be double what it is.

Chelsea’s supposed implosion post-Roman is nothing like as funny as I was hoping it would be.
I was quite happy with our transfer window but tbh, seeing this crap is putting me in a bad mood. How the fuck is an honest, well managed club supposed to compete?

Maybe we do have to take the plunge on Gvardiol/Fofana at £80m rather than wait till next year (cos the price won't be any lower, might get snapped up), unless we pull of another Kulu tier masterstroke.
........F---U---C---K that!
Maybe not him specifically for that money, but I feel like we need more, and that might well mean paying silly money. TBH, £60m for Richarlison is already silly money.
