I would say Gordon is best off waiting for his contract to run down to force his price down, but it runs until 2025 and he "only" earns £2,500 a week,
He's probably desperate to get out. And, if he doesn't, you gotta think he would have cause to go to Everton management and say "2 of the biggest teams in the league wanted me, I want a payrise and a new deal"
Gordon's on £10,000 a week - but, of course, he could get £100,00++ at Chelski

The rumoured £60m is far too high, even if it includes lots of add ons, as that's the price for an experienced player with a track record over several years (which Gordon does not).

A fee something like say £35m indicates we think he will perform very well this coming season with say 15+ goal involvements and the hope he will improve again in 2023/24. That kind of target of 15 goal involvement is additional what he achieved in 21/22 - 4 goals and 3 assists in 40 appearances.

But if Everton want £40m+ its all academic

An additional element to all this is that it's very likely accepting a place on our bench (rather than another season of 40 apps) will slow the trajectory of a young player's improvement.

Another year of regular football, becoming a key player for them (see Skipp/Norwich) would benefit him far more.

or to put it another way, he's better off staying at Everton to get regular playing time this coming season (which would be his 2nd season as a regular starter at Everton) to aid his development.

We'll see how good Paratici is in the next 9 days. Having to deliver likely 2 players, one who probably has to be homegrown, while clubs like Chelsea, Utd, Goons, probably Liverpool are looking to do more is not going to be easy. Lets hope this isnt his Nelson and Saha or Raziak moment and he can pull off another Kulusevski out of nowhere.

I think this is a bit unfair on Paratici.

We’ve already seen how good he is with his ability to bring in 6 good players by around when preseason was ramping up.

He’s already delivered us quality first XI players in previous windows, all while completely overhauling our front office and recruiting Conte.

He’s clearly very good at what he does, if he has a great close to this window then it’s more a cherry on top for me.

Looks like Gordon is going to Chelsea, which is fine.

There are many other players we should be looking at to replace Gil. If we can’t find the perfect one to spend a big fee on then a loan for the Atalanta guy would make sense, similar to how we failed on Bastoni and brought Lenglet instead. We shouldn’t spend big just for the sake of it.

I'd agree that overall he's done well up until now but we might have to revise that a bit if we end with Dan James, Traore or pay £60m for Gordon.

He wants to boost his chances of a WC place by going to a club notorious for buying young english players just to stop other teams having them?
