My fundamental suspicion with ENIC is that their ambition begins and ends with CL football. I don’t think silverware is the slightest concern to them and they see an attempt on the title as pointless.

Their decisions will always remain fiscally sound and risk averse.

Levy’s party trick is to make sure he pays well for the best manager available so as to give the impression of ambition but it’s always half hearted.

Kane will be a very interesting conundrum for Daniel because I can’t see him resigning if we finish sixth or so.

Yup, another form of gaslighting. It's no wonder so many of these folks are caught unawares when reality hits and they've been shitting out nonsense positivity for months. Then they have to go searching for a reason...I know, it's Honest John Honest John ' fault so I shall go in the ENIC thread and have a go at her (so to speak).

man utd will be sniffing, they need a striker, i have no doubt on it, and kane will look good for them in an attacking team. he wants shearers record so he wont go abroad

we should go for vlahovic, schtick or martinez if it comes to it, but we are poor

Exactly how I see it. Instead of facing up to them being let down by the owners & chairman they love so much. They take it out on Joan & other enic out posters. Rather than admit you were wrong again for backing & putting faith in enic/levy.
Then they can unleash abuse & hate on these enic out posters.
I guess for some it’s far easier than admit you were a fool again & got tricked by the same people.
& then promote this weird stance of it’s ok to be critical, abusive & negative about other posters but not levy/enic! Moan about anti levy/enic posters non stop but how dare you do the same about a millionaire who couldn’t give me a shit about you!

As you say, they actively seek out enic/levy out posters after reality hit homes so they can take it out on them.

I think that's something you could have labelled at ENIC and Levy is that their priorities weren't football first and rightly or wrongly they preferred securing the club and being way too frugal when it came to spending.

Not sure you can say the same now though, the money already spent under Conte (and even pre Conte where we have been spending since the stadium's been built), a DOF who is aligned to Conte's philosophy and someone who he once worked with successfully, not letting Kane go...stuff like that tells me he's in it for the next step which is lifting trophies and I'm pretty sure that ENIC are well aware the club only have 1 measly trophy in 21 years they've been in charge, doubt they'll be happy with that.

There’s some truth in that.
Lewis runs a sports entertainment business. In that, he’s no different to Kroenke, Boehly, Glazers or FSG. Except that he’s less ambitious ( and less diversified) than they are — otherwise he would have bought Woolwich, Chelsea , United or Liverpool.

From empirical data, Levy is, at least nominally, a Spurs fan but this doesn’t matter. I can attest to Alan Sugar being a massive Spurs fan but his tenure as owner was still awful.

My biggest complaint about Levy is he’s been a poor CEO as far as footballing success but, then, businesses aren’t run to garner shiny awards if it doesn’t translate into financial success. I think ENIC are at a crossroads. I think getting to the next level as a club is going to require a sustained financial input (and I’m not talking about winning a Carabao Cup to appease the whiners) and I don’t think they have the stomach for it.

No one is entitled to win anything.

Go through the list of Premier League clubs and note when any of them last won a trophy.
You can go through the same exercise in Germany, Spain, France or, even, Moldova. Most clubs don’t win anything. The majority don’t have a chance on Day One of a new season. They don’t even make it to the later stages of a competition. The amount of money involved has consolidated power in a handful of clubs and it’s probably not going to get any better any time soon without massive ( financial) changes to increase parity.

Those also-rans aren’t going to fold up or sell because they’re not perennial winners. Their fans will still turn and cheer knowing that success is beyond them. It’s the nature of the game.

You really would be much better off supporting City, mate, or finding yourself an NFL or NBA team. It will save you a lot of time.

Yeah, if they make top four and we don’t, I think they’ll definitely look to grab him.
If that is the case then it might be a year too late for us. He won’t bring in much with his age/contract situation and, the way Sonny is going, there won’t be a lot in the pot if we have to tear it all down and start over.

We’ll see. Obviously hope you’re right but I’m not sure.

I do actually think their priorities are football first; simply that within football, they don’t see trophies as important.

Their ‘sustainable’ model of success is CL football with spending linked entirely to that criteria. Should we finish outside the Top 4, it will be the same old sob story.

Because it doesn't tell the full story and you know it.

yes it's the same trophy hall as Brimingham, Wigan, Swansea but we've also been club towards the top of the league which we're not used to since the 60s

we played regular CL, even got to the final, you can't erase that like it's nothing cause we didn't win.

And if you do I feel sorry for you.

Winning trophies is quite tough actually. only one team can win one. and 3 clubs in our league have been owned by a nation state or an oligarch

we don't exist in isolation. you'd wake wake up.
