We’ll see. Obviously hope you’re right but I’m not sure.

I do actually think their priorities are football first; simply that within football, they don’t see trophies as important.

Their ‘sustainable’ model of success is CL football with spending linked entirely to that criteria. Should we finish outside the Top 4, it will be the same old sob story.
I actually agree with you that top 4 is their aim.

Conversely I think that if you have a team that is regularly getting CL football then that very same team should also be capable of winning trophies.

So we are being informed that even Liverpool struggle to compete with city.
Whilst financially yes they might, but this hasn't stopped them going toe toe with city, nor has it stopped them picking up half a dozen trophies over the past few years.
So whilst we can't compete with city, what is our excuse for not winning anything during that time.
It can't all be bad luck old boy, or all bad tactics and or manager, there has to be an underlying problem that stops this club moving forward on the sporting front.

No one will be "successful" under the current ownership

That much is abundantly clear

We've tried every type of manager possible

I don't think that's true - pre stadium build we couldn't/didn't compete financially so success was breaking the top 4, staying there, challenging for more and going deep in Europe - if we could back those managers with the type spending we are now capable of i see no reason to think they wouldn't have delivered trophies as well.

I can’t believe there’s anyone out there that has genuine belief in this ownership. Maybe if you have nailed your colours to the ENIC mast and are to proud to go back on it.

Yes they are safe, they will probably have us around the top 6 and they are quite clearly happy with that as there has been a handful of real opportunities over the last 10 years where they have sat on their hands. If they’d have tried and failed you can accept that. They only try and look to improve when we look like we’re struggling for Europe/champions league. It’s just a waiting game until they leave now.

But we only got into the top last season because Woolwich faltered, we should never have got that last spot but luckily we did.
So breaking the top four is still the aim of the club, what has changed that proves otherwise and please don't say the NFL stadium.

Ok another one of those who can't be challenged to go on the ignore list what a prick FFS

You responded to a post i made about how Redknapp Jol and Poch all done well under financial constraints and would likely have delivered tangible success had they been backed with the money we can now spend by talking about how we were supposedly lucky to finish top 4 last season - i mean what sort of response is that to what was being said, it's completely unrelated 🤣

I’m not an ENIC apologist. All that fiasco with the managers; not backing Poch; not getting the right players in; it was making a lot of us angry. But the stadium is now built and ENIC have started coughing up funds, got in a proper recruiter and they’re backing Conte. Plus, I’ve read they’re committing a further £174m.

What we need to do is give Conte some time so he can properly shape this team as he’d like. At present, it’s clearly not a title contending team and Conte has not been reluctant to point that out. Like others have said, we’re playing bench warmers in the first 11, plus we have Kulu, Richy, Romero and Pierre out injured. That’s a big hit.

Success in football is a lot about hard cash of course but also a fair amount of alchemy. Nobody really knows which players are going to work out; how effective they’ll be as a collective. You can have some terrific players who don’t gel for whatever reason. It only takes one player to have a bad game for things to turn; that’s how narrow the margins are at the top end in this sport. But just hammering through different managers is not going to help. You need a proven manager with a plan and give them time to mould things their way, as painful as the process can be to watch. Liverpool had to watch us bosh them 4 - 1 before Klopp began working his magic.

If we were fighting relegation then I’d be of a different mindset, but at present I can only see Conte as our best bet to sort things out and ENIC thus far seem to be of the same mindset.

January window coming up (let’s not forget we had one of our best ever last year) then the summer. Get those defenders and wingers Conte wants and then see what happens.

Neither am I, I'm just saying that it's very easy to improve the first team when you can write off your mistakes with a blank cheque which will essentially accelerate success quicker because the risk factor isn't as great compared to a club like ours.
Completely agree. That’s not my point tho (transfers / ridiculous budgets).

True. It’s just a few enic fans doubling down who seem really unconvinced of what they are arguing & end up doing a 180 & contradicting themselves to try & sound like we are going places with enic.
I think a neutral would say we have owners where it’s scrape top 4 at best. I don’t know any rival fans worried about enic taken us to the next level. In fact most aren’t even worried about us winning a single thing. & so far they have been right.

Basically it’s get us top 4 for the ££ & to keep things & the fans ticking over. Once we struggle for top 4 they then make more effort to improve us as a lot of ££ being missed out on. I think it will mostly be top 6 finishes with a top 4 now & then like the last few years. Until they go of course. Which doesn’t look like happening anytime soon.

True. We can’t expect top 4. Every year it’s a real battle & struggle to get top 4. I do think it’s another year where we would bite your hand off at scraping 4th.
Woolwich blew it last year thank god! But look stronger this season. Fortunately Liverpool are out of sorts so an unexpected place up for grabs.

Is it too simple to think it will be a case of,
Top 4 = conte stay’s
Miss out= conte goes

Yes Woolwich are stronger, and better than us, Newcastle I fancy could take fourth.
Because of their owners now, they have an advantage that we don't have.

Well it’s hard to say. Any of Us, Woolwich, United, Liverpool, chelsea & even Newcastle could finish in the top 4. I think city win the title.
So 3 places left for 6 teams. I don’t think Newcastle are ready quite yet for 4th but it wouldn’t surprise me. I feel it’s like last year where are hopes lie on others around us blowing it. Obviously we need to pick up points too & cash in again. As it stands, I am not confident of us taking 1 of those 3 spots left.
