Player Dejan Kulusevski

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

emp' somewhat with poch. Aurier, A bit like Sanchez... v good... Then brain fog.. and dumb mistakes.. ..potential game changing mistakes... OFTEN enough Imo to have made him a liability.

I'm not a great Aurier fan but not sure why Poch chose Aurier (other than the PSG connection) over the other options around for a similar price (eg Pereiria but there were others), and Aurier wasn't particularly cheap.

Sadly I think Aurier was just another from that 2016-20 period when the players bought were not great - we bought no top players in that period and too many 'meh' players. Just poor football decisions

Kulusevski such a top signing - clearly properly checked out before bought (probably helped by Paratici knowing him at Juventus even though manager wasn't playing him that much).

Excellent AM who plays as a winger with a no 10 vision and creativity with very acceptable goal/assist stats. Made an almost immediate impact too, which is less common than all fans would like, and now an established fans favourite.

The signing of Kulusevski and Bentancur last January must rank as one of the best transfer windows of all time. Both now key players for us.

I disagree. I remember that time- not all of us thought Trippier was playing poorly. IMO he got targeted for size a few times and was wrongly slagged off for it. That's just part of the game- sometimes you are a smaller, more mobile fullback facing a very tall/strong winger, and need help from your teammates. I wish we'd have kept him then.

You're glossing over a hell of a lot of poor performances and numerous calamity fuck ups......

Even he admits to having a shit season..... Albeit he says he was in pain for much of the year as he struggled to get over the toll the world cup took on his body.

At the time it was reported that Poch was given a straight choice between Serge and Pereira...... I got the impression that Aurier was chosen because he had greater name value and that if we could tame his 'bad boy' image we'd have an absolute worldie on our hands.

Serge is one of the list of players that have said that Poch and his personal pitch was the clincher in him deciding to come.

It feels like we often buy players based on what their max capability is rather than what they typically produce.

Yeah Aurier could do some really cool shit but on average he's pretty wank.

Trippier would be feasting in this Spurs side. His crossing was so good.

God I miss having a reasonbly competent FB.

AAGGGHHH, you just FUCKING HAD TO REMIND IT, didn't you ?!?! :D ??

He was fucking available for fucking 15 mil.
Knows the club.
Is HG.
Can cross.

But noooooo... we have to endure the sack of shit that cannot defend, attack nor anything in between.

Imagine Tripps and Kulu flying on the same wing ?!?

Said it before and will say it again- we'd be winning the league right now if we had Trippier instead of Emerson.

Well...not quite that.
This is far-fetched.

There would be more threat from RWB, but often in games we have real issues in midfield - opposition is too free to roam around there + do not forget the potential of our CBs brainfarting in most important moments.

We'd be much better off, agreed.
But not winning the title...

Trips last season at spurs was a disaster. If he was kept around after that it would have been the equivalent of Conte starting Royal after the World Cup…

Question is not if we should or should not have sold him.
Year ago we had a chance to sign him back in the light of new situation.

You know, one where our manager plays back 5 and expects attacking output from wingbacks...
And we were short on HG players. And maybe even experience-wise.

In the end, half a year later we went out and paid same amount of money for lad that has played 2 minutes of EPL football with half of the season.... so... yea...not the best pick between the two options, at least so far.

100%.

When we had the special 5 you wondered who could replace them..

Here's one. Kane and Son are still in that group in my opinion. Bentancur is pretty much getting there and we need one more.

If you have 5 special players in your squad you should always have a chance.

Kulusevski increases our potency and his beauty is that he seems to genuinely believe he is that best player on the pitch.

If he gets 5% better he is going to be one if the best 5 in the PL. No doubt.

As well as he's already been for us when fit, I could see him hitting another gear post WC. Bloody looking forward to it, he's really next level and so fun to watch play football
