Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I’ve had enough. Talking to other season ticket holders around me and they are the same. The football is shit, the club is going nowhere. We’ve all supported the club for 30/40 years and we just can’t see where it’s going.

It’s painful. Best part of the day for me is going for drinks before and after the game with my old man. The football is shocking! If we win, it’s normally never that convincing. Normally stressful. So many good players we have had in the past…. But never a proper squad to win titles. Crazy really.

I’m not sure if anyone else has mentioned it, but Sky picked up on it during the game. Conte isn’t as active or passionate on the side of the pitch as he was last season

Disagree we have tried to move do forward and we have only moved back
Yeah, let's get Poch back, the only PSG manager that saw a less than 70% win ratio since 2013 and one of the least successful in that period, with the added bonus of a few of the greatest players of their generation at his disposal.

I'm sure he'd turn it around and we'd start playing wonderstuff and it would all be like when we actually had one of the best squads in the country magically all over again.

I’ve been one of the most pro Antonio/Anti Levy people on here but this is the final straw

Watching that live was insane

We spent 80% of the game letting them knock the ball around in our half. I honestly can’t understand what tactical instructions any of these players are getting

If Perisic wasn't carrying a knock, then starting sess was just fucking suicidal.

Fed up of managers coming here and showing a warped sense of perspective and appraisal re. players, they never showed anywhere else.

It's absurd.

He's gone. It might be in the next few weeks or the end of the season in 4 months but its clear he doesnt want to be here. Maybe its the backing, maybe its the death of close friends have made him re-evaluate but I really cant see the point in limping on and trying to buy players for him.

Here’s the thing with Conte, he came into this season with basically a 100% approval rating among our fans. There’s no questions about his past record like an AVB. And despite the fact that our summer window does look worse by the day, he’s been backed pretty substantially in his time here. Basically everyone believed this would work.

The fact that he’s in some hot water now is down solely to his own brutal coaching performance this season.

Unlike every other coaching debate I can remember at Spurs, the debate is shockingly agendaless. We all liked this guy and thought he was the one would bring us to the heights we’ve craved and what we’re responding to now is solely the fact that performances, team selection, and management are all shockingly poor.

We're doomed if we continue under a Conte system with poor/mediocre fullbacks. He's stubborn, so won't alter the plan, meaning those positions simply need new signings.
And this point is why the Porro negotiating is so head scratching to me. There's a clear need. There is a price (whether Spurs agree with that or not belongs in the transfer thread), and yet there is so much hesitation I read an article saying Chelsea are now interested.

A club with a football director must know what Conte's system requires, and yet we hesitate over the fee. A fee which at face value doesn't seem overly outlandish (ofc you're a prem club the seller will make you pay more).

I Bullshit most of those players were not worth a wank before Pochettino got hold of them

This has to stop.

Lloris was considered one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Vertonghen was in the PFA Team of the Year. Walker won PFA Young player of the Year, Dembele was a monster in his debut season with us next to Sandro, Eriksen was always a bright spark and one of the brightest young talents in world football before he joined us. All before Pochettino joined us.

They just needed to be free, have the shackles released from AVBs era and show they can actually play football.

I see the same talk of this team. "It's not good enough". "Our team is shit". "How many of our team would get into others" yada yada yada.

Until a decent coach comes along who can get the best out of them and the fickle, hypocritical fan is shown up once again.

Fuck me, the way we ended the season and the squad improvements we made in the summer had most of our fans say we may compete for the fucking title ffs.

They need a conversation quickly along the lines of

If you are committed to staying, you've got to sign an extension and then the board have authorised £???? amount of spending in January with a further £??? In the summer.

If you're not committed to staying you need to decide now and we need to start planning the post Syrup head era.

All the while we're in limbo, we'll be treading water or going backwards.
I'm starting to think Levy will go with the easy option of Poch back in, give him a little money as he trusts him more.

I don't think it needs anymore explaining, he will not buy the big players we need, our only hope is to build something like Poch did otherwise we at papering over the cracks as we have done since he was sacked.

Not saying poch is the answer at all, but for our model a manager like poch, Potter, howe are who we have any hope of winning something with.

We will not press the button on these luxury managers to give them what they need. It comes with too much collateral damage when they leave and Levys whole model is to play it safe and secure us financially to be sold one day.

Complete mess, but we need a real recheck right now and I cannot see us keeping this cheap and cheerful approach and see Conte here start of next season.
Players know this aswell.

I agree. It makes no sense at all. It’s a complete mess. At 2 nil in the first half it was reminiscent of us in Nuno’s last game v Man U.

Poch would be the quick and easy fix, or someone like him.

But there's a small voice in the back of my head that says that Luis Enrique would be an interesting experiment now that he is looking to head back to club football. I really liked his Barca side at the time.
But he is probably heading back to Spain.

Not Poch ball. But certainly better than this. And with the right mentality. "If they can score four, we can score six."

No it’s wasn’t. Dembele was a mess, he was on the bench when Poch came in with Mason and Bentaleb picking up the tab. Rose was terrible, Walker and Eriksen inconsistent. Verts and Kane looked good.

You can go back through this forum, during the reign of AVB’s reign many fans thought the squad was shit and had to be rebuilt entirely.

Poch isn’t the solution but he got out the squad and players performances none of us could have imagined.
