Transfers January 2023 Transfer Thread. The Big One

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The only possible choice that people on here would be Ndicka and he’s really not all that. I would rather go big in the summer.

Also every single report before the window opened said we were just looking at attackers and a RWB. They also mentioned CB would be a summer buy.

Gotta moan about something I guess
They said last Summer we'd go big for a cb and we ended up with fucking Lenglet on loan. There'll be a new excuse this Summer or a new manager looking to give everyone a clean slate again.

A lot of Frankfut fans say he's been their worst defender this season...

If it ends like this it’s an odd one. Danjuma and Porro are good players and Porro will be nice but that CB is such a big weakness and has been for ages.

We can still get top 4 but with a good CB together with a good right back I would back us to beat Newcastle to Top 4, now it’s at best 50:50 not to mention increasing the chance of an FA cup.

A Spurs window where you think it’s ok ish but but not enough and that seems to be many of our windows. 5/10 if it stays as is, 8/10 if a CB turns up then I think it’s very good window.

All we can hope for is that Porro plus better attacking options (Son actually showing up + Rich and Dan) means we just become a more threatening team to the point we lessen the pressure on our dodgy defence.

I still think we'll get top 4 (Newcastle draw too much) but struggle to see a cup win tbh.

People keep taking their assets and they just seem to get better.
Their real asset is off the field.

Their scouting network is in tune with their on field ambition.

They sign players who are allowed to play in a system that plays to their strengths. This is despite changing managers, their chairman, scouts, directors follow an ethos.

They are exactly how football clubs without mega bucks should be run. I have a lot of time for them, even though they are a rival, it's refreshing to see.

The most damning statement is that their off field plan is exactly what we do not have. I would swap their chairman and scouting network in a heartbeat and so would fans of many other clubs.

To be fair, anyone who says they weren't happy with the summer window at the time is lying.

Bissouma - Linked with every top club.
Richarlison - Linked with top clubs and is a talented player
Perisic - Conte favourite and top player
Spence - Excited us all
Lenglet - Granted he was back to Barca.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing..
I said it was a 6/10 at the time in the summer transfer thread and said it can’t be looked at as some amazing window as we failed to get a top draw cb or rwb in…

This window I would probably give a 5 or a 6. I really think Porro is the real deal and what we need in that position but once again we haven’t addressed our centre back issues. Three transfer windows have gone by now and that’s only lenglet on loan we’ve brought in at CB, that is incredibly poor from the recruitment team.

Maddison has changed his profile picture on Instagram from Jamie Vardy, the Leicester owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha and the FA Cup (in a Leicester kit) to him in an England kit. The timing of the change comes at a time when a transfer away from the Foxes has started to heat up.

Leceister announced the signing of Brazilian Tete on Sunday morning. Both Maddison and Tete feature in the same position, which highlights that the Foxes seem to be looking to replace the Englishman amid interest from a host of top clubs to secure his signature.

Is there a definitive source for the homegrown list? Every article I can find says Doherty is HG in the league, but not UEFA.

Sadly no. I wrote to Spurs re Davies at start of September as we seemed to have got one too many overseas trained players - to be informed via social media that rule changes meant players trained with FAW now counted as HG in PL.

UEFA rules have not changed so Association trained means trained at a club affiliated t The FA only.

I think Spurs list announced at end of transfer window often marks HG players

How many on here can actually say they have seen him play more than 5 times?
For those that answer Yes, do you think he is going to meet the high expectations we have of him, or are we buying him as straight away he is our No1 RWB, and his potential is massive? I remember getting excited when we signed Reggie and look how that turned out!

My memory is shocking anyway.

Going to a team below us and helping them get above us is even more criminal

I left my job after almost 10 years to go to a smaller company that makes less money who offered me more.
More money, more of a say in things, more authority to do things.

How is Walker going to a club behind us that's on the way up, that offered at least double the money to do it, any different?

It's just life. We got a great fee for him.

Can anyone remember that lad we signed from Man U in January? He joined another club for six months before joining Spurs because of some clause in his contract or we got him cheaper that way... or something?

yes went to Standard Liege for 6 months and then to Spurs. But ultimately proved not to be up to standard so after a season we sold him (small loss I think) to someone like Crystal Palace.
