Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It won't. It may absolutely come down to individual examples of us deciding to save a bit of cash rather than go the extra mile for a player, but mostly I think it will be about the culture/attitude set at Spurs, which many of us have seen is clearly not right for a long time. Far too much mediocrity at the club which has been allowed to stay & fester for years.

I'm not saying this to be rude or snarky, but in this context I'm not interested in your (fan) speculation...... We already had gigabytes of that before any Conte pipe-bomb took place.

It's time to get ready for some home truths which cut through the "we are ambitious" propaganda the club spew out.

Let's see if we get them. I have no fear of the truth.... I welcome it (I said as much before he signed); but I'm just not all hyped up by what we have heard from him thus far.

People complain about the CBs but Conte turned down the opportunity to spend on another CB this summer because he couldn’t get Bastoni, who never wanted to come here. That’s a choice he made.

And I was right .. vindicated. Said all this was round the corner, it's just come earlier than even I expected.

Why? He's addressing the culture set. What do you want from him, a dossier of every little thing wrong with the club? Of course what he's saying is relatively generic, its a passionate outburst from a passionate man working at an ambitionless institute.

Again, details WILL likely come later. But not in a press conference. I expect him to be dropping names for fun when he's no longer employed by us.

You don't know that. The amount of uninformed speculative bollocks people pass off as fact when it comes to transfers is mind-blowing.

I doubt he turned down the chance to spend, more like the club couldn't get the players he wanted.

He’s saying that this is the first time in his career he has been unable to improve a team.

Add another name to the list.

Don’t worry lads, Daniel will get the next one right.

Ah, I see we are at Conte v Levy again. Here's an idea - both are at fault.

For all of Levy/ENIC's financial clout there has been a lack of direction on the pitch - transfers/recrutiment/managerial appointments./deadwood players central to all that.

As for Conte - ready to see the back of him. Halfwit power football, odd subs, no rotation, never using youth etc. Not at all the right fit for us. Irrespective of the issues with Levy he should be doing more with the squad. Looking forward to enjoying watching our matches again too.

Well looks as though Conte's race as manager is done. I do agree with aspects of what he has said in his press conference and hopefully it will give the board a kick up the backside to change their approach because they are not going anywhere.

There have been parts of Conte ball I haven't minded however we can't keep trying the same stuff and the same results keep happening. He's far too stubborn as a manager. He hasn't helped himself with his lack of rotation policy especially the period before the World Cup i.e Bissouma not playing at all.

I would be very surprised if he's here after the international break.

The players do need to take a long hard look at themselves aswell though. Everyone keeps banging on about certain players deserve trophies and need to leave the club etc but fuck me if you can't navigate yourself through a 3-1 lead with 15 mins to go against bottom of the league you don't deserve to win a fucking trophy.

The distressing irony of people wanting MP back, is that this is exactly the type of turgid, dogshit football he was producing in the phase leading up to his sacking.
This is a really poor characterization TT. It lacks so very much context. So the manager that has called for a painful rebuild for over 2 seasons is faulted when the shitty players he has can't play? You mean Winksoko wasn't your cup of tea?

Sad thing is that some people rated it as if it were a fair statement. Goldfish round here.

I don't think some of this is fair. A club that is "ambitionless" wouldn't have appointed him in the first place, they knew they were putting themselves under a microscope by hiring him. He was given quite a lot of funds, he was given leeway to ship out a lot of players he didn't like, and he was able to hand pick certain signings.

He is one of the highest paid managers in the world and the football we have seen this year is dreadful. He was backed quite a bit and he failed at his job.
