Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Listening to him mentioning the owners and then back tracking on them after the event is utter bollocks. He meant it that the owners and their approach has been a failure in terms of trophies definitely. Surely they know deep down that he did too? If they don’t then they shouldn’t be in the job.

It's not rubbish It's exactly what has happened - It's easier to come in to a club & team that have an established way of playing and are in a good place over several years and make a positive impact, as the foundations are in place, than it is to come in to a club and team that are in a bad place with none of that in place. Martinez done the same thing at Swansea following on from Rogers for example.

Typical flavour of the month supporter thinking
I think I am in a position where I know more about football than you. I coached my local club team for 3 years. So maybe you can learn things from me instead of patronising me. Your age? I watched Brighton before and now and he has improved all aspects of the playing style in attack and defence. You want poch who struggled with psg in a crap french league with some of the best players in the world. Brighton have some good players. We have better players than Brighton. Imagine de zerbi with our squad and the ability to bring a few of his own. We would be still in the champions league and fa cup and maybe top 2 in the league. We need de zerbi.

You're entitled to your opinion so I won't tell you to ''shut up''.

Dier is no way top quality, neither is Davies, nor Sess, nor Peresic, nor PEH. this season Son has been wank, Kulu runs hot and cold.

Skipp Sarr have a lot to offer, as does Boussuma, Richarlison still hasn;t scored a goal for us in the Prem.
You have no right to tell me to shut up or not to shut up. You have no control over me. Be respectful. How old are you? Dier is quality. He has been a consistent performers. Every defender makes a mistake. PEH is outstanding. Did you see him against Chelsea and City. He has been overworked. He is our work horse and warrior and never stops. He has got fatigue. Richarlison is a brazil starter and was 60 million. He has had injuries. He is a great player. Once he gets a run he would be up there for assists and goals. He could get in the city team. You watch and see. I watched Everton a lot with him and he was always there best player. Plus he is as tough as nails. Would you want to mess with him so think of the other players. He scares other players.

But, and I agree he meant the owners as well, he is right their approach hasn't worked and has failed.
There is no question or argument against it, their policy has failed this club, at least to date, and of course will continue it's safe to assume.

I was going to impose his head on it but I can't be arsed.

We are not going to bring players in unless the manager signs off on them or is happy to okay them. There's been one constant with the criticism of the transfer window in the Summer for example which was Spence, the rest of the players we haven't heard a peep about, does that suggest to you he's unhappy with the club's signings? It doesn't to me.

We have bought in around 10 players since Conte has been here and one of them is a half decent centre half on loan, you have to ask why then if our defence is so bad or he he couldn't get a tune out of them than a CB wasn't prioritised in the short term at least.

We needed forwards you're right but we are talking about priorities - we spent the last 2 windows chasing Zaniolo, we bought in Richarlison for £60m yet doesn't play him, we bought in Danjuma (who yet again he doesn't' play) when he in fact wanted Deulofeu.

And if he's continually picking a player in order to send a message to the board then he is indeed playing politics with them.

The issue I have is that there's too much pointing fingers at the board when

a) He's been backed more than any other manager we have had in our history.
b) He's an elite coach who is meant to get the best out of what he's been given.

Now you can say that he hasn't 100% been backed to the tune with who he wants and I make you right, but what manager gets everything they want? And for a manager who has no intention of commiting what kind of backing are you actually expecting the club to give him, why would you go all out if the manager has no intention of sticking around AND he's not getting the best out of our current players?

You think Lenglet would've been his first pick for a transfer in? You think he didn't want someone better perhaps? He didn't seem to want Spence or Danjuma, we didn't need either of them and they don't play.

Yes you'd have to ask all the football people at the club and ask why our CB situation at the club is so bad and specifically the recruitment team for not sorting it out. Do you think Conte and his staff don't understand football or football players? Do you think we realise and they don't? Seriously? We've settled for poorer players since the days of Toby and Jan and it's hurt us. That's not on Conte, that's on the people who run the football club. You think Conte is gonna come out publicly and slag a new signing he's gotta work with? Of course not, doesn't mean he's happy with the signing.

Half decent? Since when was half decent and on loan good enough? We've got plenty of half decent, we need good or very good, not half decent. Conte knows this, he's said many times in press conferences about 'raising the levels'. If we wanna be a top club, we need good players with a strong mentality - like we used to have in 2017. It's another reason he was always going at the end of his contract.

Richy has been injured a lot and he's not playing in front of Kane very often, nor should he. He's played him plenty when fully fit.
It's a fact Conte wanted Deulofeu? Are you privy to some information the rest of us are not? Sounds like speculation to me.

Which player are you talking about regarding politics and the board?

He's had money spent for sure but the squad was in such a dreadful state and allowed to be that way because of a series of mistakes you can only hold the board accountable for - namely piss poor recruitment both player and manager wise. £250m pissed away on ndom, lo celso, sanchez, sissoko, reggy, doherty, sess to name a few. Jose and Nuno. Piss poor.

I'd say 4th is about the best you're gonna get out of our current squad, especially with the injuries we've had this season (Hugo, Romero, Benta, every forward bar Kane) and the obvious personal and health problems the manager had.

As for the contract situation, Conte is not the custodian of Spurs, Levy is - why did Levy agree to an 18 month only deal in the first place with a manager who was gonna push him hard to improve the squad (quite rightly)? If Conte wouldn't agree to 3 years, Levy could've fucked him off and got someone else in - or perhaps, after Jose and Nuno, Levy was up shit creek without a paddle.

Why are you posting such long messages. Normally you should keep them to 3 or 4 paragraphs on these threads. You lose the reader when you post too much content and expect the reader to read your waffling. Some times less is more. We are in a culture where we want points to hit home. Clear and consise please.

You were not talking any sense and were wrong so I had a right. You are too sensitive. I just did not like you disagreeing with me. No hard feelings.
But it was you who disagreed with my post. However, if you are upset about people posting things that you disagree with, perhaps forums such as this aren't right for you. I'm not the only poster here who thinks a lot of our players just ain't good enough.

Because I'm answering points made by someone in answer to a previous message.

Anything else? Is it ok if I have some lunch now? Thanks.

Back in Italy until tomorrow. Meant to be taking training then. If he does then we’ve got to assume he’ll be here until after the next game. You’d sack him straight away as soon as he’s back surely???
I would have sacked him before he went.

Don't get me wrong, the players are a disgrace once again but the buck stops with him.

May as well get rid and start getting ready for next season now.

I like the idea of getting a manager on the way up as opposed to another Conte or Mourinho who, despite their outstanding resumes, haven't been able to jump the last hurdles. It would give Spurs a chance to develop an organizational philosophy behind what that manager brought to the team and finally get off the roller coaster ride. I was also impressed with how he handled the Leandro Trossard situation and how quickly Brighton moved on from him despite his obvious talent. I thought that made a very positive, team first, statement and is the sort of attitude needed at Spurs as they sort out who wants to compete for championships and who are ride along players just drawing a paycheck.
