Ex-Spurs Player Eric Dier

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The contract renewal he got under Mourinho was a real headscratcher. What on earth was Levy thinking?

I'm sure a club like Everton, Southampton, or even West Ham would like to have him. Just hope his wages aren't too high for him to be sold without us having to take a brutal hit.

Not really.

You don't think Jose wanted Dier to stay?

So how many times, in the last 8 years of Dier being at Spurs, have you seen him in person?
Seriously? Because no one who is there every game has ever said he's good, or consistent. All he is, at best, is better than some of the other shite we have for that position.
No one? People who say they speak on behalf of the whole world tend to have an inflated regard for their own opinion.
6 different managers have made him first choice except for a time after he came back from injury and JM didn't.
He was a regular in the England team until he picked up an injury and now he is back fit again he is a regular squad player for England. He has played in 2 World Cup finals and a Euro.
He is a solid, dependable player who rarely screws up unlike you know who.
I'll bet my bottom dollar that the next permanent manager will continue with Eric.

I have compiled the ratings on Eric Dier for the last 3 seasons which are sourced from a wide spectrum of opinion.

All the data is on the ratings thread.
Dier has been consistently good in general with occasional dips in form like all players.

The lengths people are going to justify him being a first choice in a position he has no right to be are hilarious.

Which top team would have Dier as their 1st choice centre-back? We all know the answer.

Case closed.

Was he solid or dependable when he set Salah up for Liverpools goal?
Was he solid or dependable when he backed off for 3 of Leicesters 4 goals?
Was he solid or dependable when he mis hit an easy clearance out for a corner against Brentford, from which they scored?
These are just 3 examples from the last few months. It goes back through his entire Spurs career.

2-0 down at home to Olympiacos and taken off after 29 minutes becaue he was fuckin' hopeless.

I would love to hear from any fans who are frequently at games that think Dier should be first choice for us. Or that he's anything other than a liability in any position.
There can't be many who watch games sober that see anything other than a very, very, basic footballer.

if the manager is any good he defo wont be doing that.

He'll have to if we don't finally sign a couple of very good CB's. This is why we're even debating whether Dier is any good. He's marginally better than Sanchez and Tanganga, That's like me being a marginally better runner than Susan Boyle. It doesn't make me elite.

people rate players on a game with their ability in mind. kane has to do far more than dier to get an 8.

if the teams winning all the players are going to get a bit of a juice up in ratings, when the weak links start breaking they all come down...whos the weak links!??

Good or bad manager, they will be sacked just like the other who have relied on Dier as our main CB.

Guy talking about Dier's worldcup apperances above you...He started 2 worldcup matches in his life. Serge Aurier has started more matches in the worldcup than Eric Dier has, and Ivory Coast dont even qualify for worldcups very often.

Yes both of them were clearly stupid to want Dier to stay. Should have been sold then.
They may have wanted him to stay as a squad player as long as they were able to sign a top centre-back. I believe it's more likely they didn't get the money to spend on Skriniar/Bastoni etc and so tried to make do with Eric. That's what you do as a manager you make do with what you have if you can't get the players you really want.
