Yeah this doesn’t make sense.

Levy hired Ange to not be a checkbook manager, work with younger players and develop them.

You’re telling me the first thing he does is asks to get into a bidding war with Newcastle ??

:ange-hmm:
Or maybe it’s a simple as the club have held long standing interest in Maddison and levy has asked Ange would he fit into your system and do you want him and ange said yes.

Much like the reports last year that we asked Conte if he wanted Maddison and he said no…

But Maddison does not fit the system unless we sell Kane and Maddison is the better than average replacement Centre Forward.

Nah I'd have him as right, solely because it's the third tier European trophy, which the CWC was when it existed.

Intertoto, I guess you'd describe it as the 4th tier, but it wasn't really considered an actual European trophy, whilst there was a physical cup I think, the prize was a spot in the real European competition the following season, it was also played during pre-season rather than in the actual season. And to cap it all off, there were actually multiple "winners" each season I seem to recall.

You can rank it the same level of prestige as ECL if you like, but they aren't equivalent in any real sense.

ECL =/= CWC

CWC; you actually had to win something to gain entry.

Sure but that’s not what the Romano tweet says. It says Ange has asked for Maddison.

IMO Maddison has been nailed on to go to Newcastle since last year. This is just agent talk since Leicester want £50+ million

Why does a club with no head of recruitment and a brand new manager have a long-standing interest in a player?

Who is the club in this case?

Not a knock on Maddison. Just pointing out that "the club" has also had a brutal track record with transfers and player leadership groups that undermine the manager.

So Agne hasn't got flexible systems of play?
He does and has played different formations at other clubs. The thing that he doesn't compromise on is his footballing philosophy, but he isn't wedded to one formation.

If he doesn't have the players to play the way he did at Celtic, I am confident that he will find another way to set us up.

Wondering if Ange might want to look at him as a 6. Has the ability to cut through pressure so easily.

Either that or one of the 8's. Looks like we will need 4 of those as Ange likes to change his midfield at the 70min mark to keep things fresh.

Bissouma is another interesting one for this, is he 6 or 8 now?
Bissouma is a 6. Don’t think in a 4-3-3 he’s creative enough good at making runs into the box. He can sit and pass and the defensive side is easy for him.

I was responding to ''Maddison does not fit the system''.
