I understand people’s concerns about James Maddison in respects to attitude, age and injury history (though nobody is contesting that he isn’t a good player or a fit for Angie’s style of play) but there is one important thing people have not spoken about here in regards to this imo…

I think bringing in an England International that is highly rated in the Prem is a ploy to keep Kane beyond next season.

I think this may be the thinking with Maguire too and any other England internationals (Sancho, for example).

Not saying the latter two are highly rated in the Prem but may go someway towards convincing Kane.

Ominous potential churn at City.....

B.Silva >>> PSG sounding likely.
Gundogan >>> ??? sounding increasingly likely.
Mahrez - Struggling for minutes.

........Gotta wonder where they're gonna blow their annual 200m-ish this summer.

Kinda suprised that Bellingham is not reportedly on their radar.

I expect they'll go for Gvardiol once Laporte is sold. They have a lot of faith in Rico Lewis and Cole Palmer so can only see them making a couple of signings even if a few leave. Phillips could also be like a new signing for them next season if his City career pans out the same way as Grealish's.

Thank god he wasn’t or we never would have won all these trophies in the last 4 years.

Point made.

Our fanbase doesn't really have a clue what they want. But I guess that's our lack of identity as a club.

You have some people wanting us to be a selling club like Dortmund or Brighton. Who brings in good young players to sell them on for profit, rinse repeat.

You then have some who want us to spend big on big names in a league that has five clubs bigger than us and three of the richest clubs in world football where competitive edge plays a part.

Then there's other who want us to back managers. But then complain about the people we are linked with. Want us to pay the money for players the manager wants. Only to complain about the player we spent big on after a few games.

What do we actually want?

They're signing Kovacic from Chelsea as well.

They'll pluck some absolute gems out of Argentina or Spain as well.

As much as they get shit for their money spend, they rarely get it wrong with signings. People have given Kalvin Phillips a bit of stick for this season, it's the usually Pep introduction to his squad, plus he's competing with arguably the worlds best defensive mid.

I don’t get what people are getting at when they mention his attitude, age or injury history.
Every time I’ve seen him he works as hard as his team mates,he’s 26 which is still very young as players play longer nowadays. Players are fitter and being 32 now is like a 28 year old 20 years ago as they all look after themselves fantastically well and have everything at their disposal to prolong their careers. As for the injury history,he’s got over 30 appearances every season he’s been at Leicester.
He’s the creative type of player we’ve been crying out for and is perfect for how Ange wants his forward midfielders to play.
He’s not even in his prime yet and an England internationalist. If he was at Chelsea, city, pool or Man Utd he’d have more caps.

Had a look around to see what the general scout on him is

Things that stood out is he's great a creating/crossing from the left half space and makes a serious contribution defensively in the press for an AM.

Both sound exactly what Ange likes in a 8/10.

Guy writing that analysis wasn't worried about him physically and said he seems bigger on the ball. Pace of decision making and time on the ball in the prem maybe more of a concern.

He would be great for us, absolutely. I player we could get excited about and see develop under Ange and this 'new direction' he's talked about.

Just think we'll miss out and not take the leap of faith, I think this goes for Alex Scott too. Though he is Spurs and would imagine his agent has been touting. Surely...

Borussia been doing it for ever, pal. Same with Ajax. Both European juggernauts compared to Brighton.

Don't get me wrong, I've a lot of respect for what Brighton have achieved, how they go about their business. Really, really smart club.

But a tad early to put them ahead of Borussia, my man.
That's the point. They churn out a big sale every few years. There's plenty of others that leave for less or little more than originally paid.
Brighton have, in a very short space of time, taken that formula and turned it up to 12. It's astonishing how they keep getting these players in, moving them on quickly and using the profit to get better, quickly.
They even did the same with the coach. Made £20m out of Potter and replaced him with some one who improved them.

They seem to have it so well nailed, I don't want any of their players. I want the player they want to sign to replace their player.

Why would England international players being in the team make any difference to Kane?

Plus he would cost 15 million quid, not 50 million. So worth a punt.
