Maddison’s game is about playing forward,creating and getting into areas to hurt the opposition and that’s playing on the front foot. I’m pretty sure if he signed with us and Ange wanted him to press and get about the pitch he would. You don’t need to crash into tackles,you just need to get close to people,put pressure on them and force them into making mistakes. Maddison is perfect for us.

Much as Eriksen was. Never tackled, but was always there to either pressurise the player on the ball, or cut off another channel.

Given our record with injuries and also expensive signings, this is just the biggest accident waiting to happen.

If he went barcodes, they would get lucky and he’d be fine.

Bentancur hadnt missed a game in years… first full season with us, blows out his knee.

If we did blow a big sum on Maddison and his knee was a problem, it would be the clearest sign the club hasn’t learned

I think it was the same with Lo Celso too. Virtually zero injury record prior to us, turned into Darren Anderton before the ink on his contract was dry.

By that reckoning, Madison should spend the rest of his career at Spurs injury free!
