I would prefer Solomon over Harvey Barnes, he fits Ange's system better.

Barnes is a poor dribbler and in the bottom 2 percentile for successful dribble % vs Solomon who was in the top 87th percentile.

I don't think Solomon will displace anyone in the 1st 11, but could be an amazing super sub with his dribbling ability, speed, quick feet and he is also in the 99th percentile for both tackles made and % of dribblers tackled, which is handy for a high press. He can also play LW & RW and considering Ange subbed both wingers in all but 5 league games last year, could be a very important player from the bench.
Agree, Barnes would be more of a Son back-up / succession plan but doesn't seem a great fit.

Bollocks. Been happy with Postecoglou and the 2 signings so far. You are allowed some critical thinking. Every window its the same on here, you get the rose tinted, just give me a signing any signing crew where anything and everything is brilliant.

Here is the thing, getting this guy free only covers one of the spots vacated by Lucas and Danjuma.

Then there is always the chance that Gil doesn't work with what Ange wants in pre season (even if it would be fucking great if he could).

This guy for free is prem proven as one of the best 1v1 dribbles and non pen goal threats in the prem, playing in a reduced mins role. That will be his role for us with Son on the left.

It also gives us budget to get a top CB and have some spare if an opportunity arrives late in the window.

We need Tapsoba, Van de Ven AND Romero,

Then we need to move Dier on so we can get Tosin as well.

What you described would be reducing the number ready-now top class CBs.

VdV is a talent but it could take 2 seasons before he’s fully ready
I doubt very much that either Tapsoba or van de Ven will join Spurs to be an understudy or that Tosin will join Spurs to be 4th or even 5th choice CB.
Yes, Spurs will lose one ready made CB, true...but may gain 2 potential top-class CB. I doubt van de Ven will need 2 seasons in the EPL. Saliba needed just a few games to adjust and he's same age as van de Ven.
The thing with Romero is that he doesn't seem 100 % focused on Spurs; his mind seems to be "elsewhere" for whatever reason (one of those reasons is Argentina's national team).

From everything I have seen and read about VdV, he isn't on Saliba's level yet. Saliba went on loan for 2 seasons of senior football in a top league after joining them. Now he has 3 seasons of senior football plus 16 games the season before he went there.

Van de Ven has 1 season of senior football in a top league. He's talented but it could take a season or 2.

You sign players of this level with them knowing they have to fight for it and earn it.

Tapsoba would be the only one that maybe comes in expecting to be 1st choice.

would love both them cb's

dont rate tosin that highly like many on here, 25 and not really done anything of note yet but its likely its him and one of the others better then nothing as long as sanchez and a few others go

I wouldn’t mind this soloman signing if we were to also go after a winger who’s actually going to put pressure on son and Kulu for a starting spot, but I highly doubt we will. Both son and Kulu were poor last season and shouldn’t be guaranteed starters this time around I still feel a “first team” winger is needed not just a backup .

I am almost completely unmoved by the
Solomon signing. I think it is both good and bad. In a way it's a no-brainer, he's free, a pretty good player, if you want to you could sell him for 10-15m next summer after a year of providing solid LW backup. He's a very good dribbler, shuttles past tackles really well, nothing special when it comes to creativity, final
ball. Pretty good shot, works hard out of possession. Hopefully he's better than I think he is. Ultimately, I think he's another 6/10 player in a squad with many of them, and you won't win much with those. (Son is 31yo, Kane 30 and soon out of contract.) Solomon, Rich, Kulu, Gil .. when Son/Kane are finished up we're incredibly mid table.

What's the specifically "bad" bit?

Do you think we won't make any attacking signings when Kane and Son are finished up?
