Orban would have had the same problems Richarlison had last game. Lack of space and lack of clear cut chance creation due to lack of space.

We've been very spoilt by someone like Kane who is happy to drop deep, get on the ball, take touches and to create but we now have Maddison to do that so our striker is doing less work and in games like that and it shows.

Not a Richarlison issue but system mixed with opponent. Just how it goes.

I wouldn't say it's a system issue, it's a personnel issue. The wingers in this system needed to beat their fullbacks and cross into the box, and that just barely happened, because neither Kulu nor Son really play like that.
 
A lot of my criticism of my boy Richy but I'll be back here after the Utd game after Richy scores a crucial goal for us and il make you all eat your words.

Was listening to Talk Shite in the car today and they were chatting about Richarlison and how one of them was watching Richys goals at Everton to remind him of the type of goals he scores as it's been so long since we've seen him scoring...Some good goals in there and all kinds of goals too. He looks really down on confidence but if he can get a few goals maybe he can get back to his old self.

I agree for that game but Brentford played a very defensive game (a bit like Conte Spurs) but when we play other teams who want more possession there will be chances where a fast CF would be useful. For all of his abilities I just don't think Richardson is a natural central goalscorer. He had two reasonable chances at the weekend and I think Kane would have at least nailed one of them. He shot at the keeper instead of going across the keeper to the far post. I don't know much about Orban or any of the other strikers we have been linked with (they all look good on their YouTube showreels) but I am hoping our scouting team plus Ange get us what we need. I don't think Richardson is that person. Edit: Just watched the Richarleson Showreel above this post. Maybe I'm wrong. Hope so.

Yeah a couple of things to keep in mind.

Only 4 clubs allowed fewer goals than Brentford last season.

Brentford only allowed 3 goals at home one time last season. And that was the most they allowed at home all season.

Anyone who thought we'd go into their stadium in the first match of the Ange era and bang in the goals with ease are off their rocker.

With all our possession, i think we still played a bit conservative

I didn't mean it as if the system is a problem. Just that within this system, your striker is typically going to get very little touches in a game.

If we don't create for Richy, he isnt going to be involved much. That's not his fault.

I agree our wide aren't suited to it yet. I hope they can adapt.

Thing is, Kane dropping deep would spoil the system not the fans.

You need to be selfless to play the striker role in this system.

Maddison doesn't mean the striker does less work, it means they do more because they are required to make runs all game to pin the CBs back and 90% of those runs you aren't getting the ball.

If you have a striker in Richy's role that is blisteringly quick, that will help them and probably create even more space for the 8/10's.

As long as they are prepared to do the work of making those selfless runs

He never looked like succeeding through the middle yesterday but Sonny and Kulu were equally poor

Telling that both our goals came from defenders imv

massively down on confidence. cunty destroyed that by playing him right wing. he needs a goal against united to get some belief back into his finishing. hes literally there to be a box predator, needs the service tho
