Have you never heard of gardening leave?

Am I in a world where someone doesn't understand that an employer is well within their rights to tell an employee to stay away?

It is as simple as that. The club say to the player "you're not in the squad, you're not allowed to make use of the squad facilities, don't come to work, you'll receive full (basic) pay"

If the player won't sign for another club, this is the only solution. Under no circumstances should we throw a fuck ton of money at them and release them. That's an even worse financial decision than signing the useless twats in the first place.
And am I in a world where someone doesn’t understand that doing what you suggest is constructive dismissal?
Most people in the normal world would take the gardening leave and do exactly that. So no issue at all.
However, if said employee doesn’t accept it, & you prevent them from coming to their place of work for no other reason that you don’t want them there, then you are forcing them to accept unreasonable changes to how they work.
What happens then?

This is starting to drive me nuts, again you can't just pay players off without them agreeing first.

Also paying players off just sends out a really shit message and bad for business, it just encourages more players to sit on their contracts knowing that the club will pay them off when things start going wrong, all you're going to do is eventually have more players just sitting their waiting to be paid off.
The club could make an offer of terms acceptable for mutual agreement to realise the contract (we did with serge)

Eric dier we’ll offer you 75% of your contract value and your free to sign for a new club with immediate effect

Allowing Eric to move with the signing on fee he’s holding out for … the club saves x % on his contract … frees up a space and removes an affect of possible negativity

Don’t drive yourself nuts … it’s been done before

over 30 words above , just saying

My post wasn't to establish an opinion..... It culminated in the posing of a question.

I'd like to think that if deals were being wrecked (deliberately as you and a few other prize charlies have claimed on numerous occasions!) then there'd at least be something pointing to such instances happening......?

The only thing that comes close to my recollection is the PEH/AM situ and they would appear to have wanted to bleed us dry rather than us be over-pricing.

LO.L.... You absolute fookin' shit-house nightmare!!!!

Mate, you run a mile when your fan-fiction narratives and "conspiracy" theories (yeh, I said it!) hit a brick wall, so you've no right to talk about "copium". Ditto other club "whataboutery" as you love a bit of it when it suits you.

If the only significnt aspect of any of this is the stone fact that the deadwood remains; then you (and admittedly plenty of others) need not be drooling over shit like DKPs tweet.... In fact you'd never need even inhabit this thread and just check the official Spurs site for announcements and not bother yourself with rumour...... But of course we BOTH know that's NOT how you roll at all.
So, you agree it’s a systematic failure of senior management at the club that they are still here?

Why are you assuming that Dier wants to do that?

Why do you think that Aurier and Dier have the same motivations?

Top managers /CEO /traders get payouts all the time in the real world, if they can negotiate it when getting the job and you can't prove gross negligence. If you're at the top of your game and in demand you can put lots of provisions into your contract that are not standard for us plebs.
I got a 10% signing on bonus from my current role 😂
