Maybe Ange can offload some players to Celtic, they want defenders and mids. Give them Dier, Sanchez, Ndomele and another and we'll take Kyogo and Hatate in return as they seem to fit Ange's style and are struggling under the new celtic manager. Kyogo is a goal scorer wherever he goes. There are not many genuine goal scorers around. He knows where to be, reads the play better than most defenders and reacts quicker.

Feels like Brennan Johnson is the punishment for years of ineptitude and failure to sign HG talent. He’s not bad but he’s not the best available,
Ange wants him. He said in an interview the other day that it's not about going after the most expensive players, just the ones on the market who will best fit his system and he clearly sees this kid as being the one for him.

I don't personally know much about the guy or who the best available options are at present, but I know Ange knows better than any of us which player available is going to be an asset.

Will we get him? Last night, Ali G said that this one is a toughie because Levy is up against a chairman who is of a similar mould to himself.

Ange also said he wants a CB. I'm intrigued to know who is waiting on the sidelines if Tanganga, Dier and Sanchez all head out at this late stage.

Forest fans seem a bit down he is off which is always a good sign.

It seems that Dier has 1 foot out the door. I suspect we bring in Lenglet on a free transfer. Which is a good bit of business for a decent backup to VDV.

Sanchez is tough one. Who can we sign that is willing to sit on the bench to back up Romero that is better than Sanchez?

Having scrolled through a few pages, they seem to rate the kid highly.

I don't know much about him apart what has been posted here but will defer to Ange. Money sounds high, but then again we are talking about football in 2023.

On the Sessegnon to Bale scale of young, fast homegrown wide players who broke out in the Championship, unfortunately Johnson is much closer to Sessegnon. Bale always had that wand of a left foot. Johnson has pace, is aggressive in 1v1s, has decent ballstriking but I can't see how he gets to elite levels.

I think he'll mostly be backup to Kulu, and be a useful sub when we need to change things.

A lot of money for a squad player, but apparently we need HG, and wages won't be massive.

All these past it players should have been sold at around their peaks not given stupid long contracts. Their value has plummeted due massive loss of form or age.

Dele
Eriksen
Dier
Winks
Lloris

All should have been sold when there was interest in them. 50m for dier to united, 80m for Dele to Madrid etc. Reinvested in players like eze, Bellingham etc when they were in the championship.
In fairness to Levy, hed have been crucified for not showing ambition had we sold them at the time.

I think you’ll be suprised. I think he starts more games than you think. Eventually we could use Son in the centre with Brennan Johnson and Kulu either side. Even draft in Solomon for Kulu at times. The pace out wide for us would be phenomenal

Pace merchant wingers evolve beyond age 22 when they have a baseline level of technical ability to add more aspects to their game.

Comparisons to guys like Aaron Lennon or Adama Traore (who were as good as they'd ever be at 22) are a bit unfair, but I don't think wildly off base for Johnson's profile.
Bale is a good example, the season he turned 22, he scored 7 goals and got 2 assists playing with Modric, Lennon and Van der Vaart. The next season onwards he was phenomenal.

Would Bale have got those numbers playing in Forest's 33% possession team? I doubt it. Bale had shown glimpses of more technical ability than Johnson has so far though IMO

So already much, much better than Sessegnon then.

I agree that he won't get anywhere near Bale levels though.
