Levy In or Levy Out

Well we were never going to change out the entire squad to fit a manager who has never coached at a bigger club than Celtic, it's an unrealistic ask. And even if we were, swapping the squad in a single window is likely to lead to pretty poor results. Look at Chelsea, loads spent for fuck all result.

Was always going to take multiple windows. The encouraging thing is that when our best 11 are actually fit and available, we're really fucking good. We need to spend in January and next summer to turn over the back end of the squad, for sure.
You are being very generous towards enic & levy. Why we’re in a position of needing such a big overhaul of the squad. Neglect from the top. We needed a rebuild many years ago & the likes of dier & Sanchez gone & replaced a long time ago.
It’s a very odd plan you think is best. Let the squad rot & neglect it for years. Then start rebuilding & say well only so much we can do it in a short window. We don’t want too man changes.
Surely it would be better not to run it in to the ground in the first place! To not need so many changes at once? I really don’t get the wait until our squad needs a big overhaul, then say it will take a few windows at least to sort out.
I think we should avoid this at all costs rather than to go through it all again. I’d rather we keep freshening up the squad & trying to improve every summer instead of letting ur decline for a few seasons & needing a massive overhaul. It’s not good to need sign a large amount of players at once like you mentioned. So in your plan you avoid this by being short a few windows & leave your manager short.
Also with the letting the squad rot plan you are basically asking for your world class players like kane to leave. Again a very odd approach.
A) Let the squad rot until your crap & lose your star player. Or
B) build a team around your star player & go for it whilst he is there.
Levy went with a) & many seem more than happy with this.
Why would you not want owners who do b)

The one bone I have to pick with what we're seeing is playing Royal at CB rather than Ashley Phillips. I think it's reactionary to the idea that we're in the title fight (fringe, now) and want to stay there. Similar to what happened after Poch's team ran close in the league - we convinced ourselves we were on the precipice and didn't want to fiddle with the squad too much. So we got stale and ended up regressing. Poch and Levy both said we were "ahead of the plan", but then changed the plan because of that rather than seeing it through.

We bought Ashley Phillips to be a CB of the future. So blood him. He doesn't need to stay at the first team level, but give him a taste and see where he's at. Good for him and good for us. The goal this season was to change the tactics, change the culture, and see who worked and who didn't. Seeing Royal at CB accomplishes none of that, and we lose anyway.
Totally agree. This is the perfect season for him to give everyone a fair crack & see what they are made of. He needs to work out who he thinks is deadwood. Must be at least 5 players not good enough.

So this thread kicks off after a run of defeats. The argument is the lack of quality in the squad. We have numbers including many on loan. The problem is the massive change in direction in the summer. The squad was set up to support Conte‘s style which had been successful elsewhere. Many fans including me were unhappy had that style and Levy has listened and instead of getting a Manager to work with the players we had has a totally different approach. One transfer window was never going to be enough to change all the players that were unsuited to the new style.
Dier despite his critics has been a good defender and was an England player. His play in the 2nd half of last season was littered with mistakes. Apparently he was carrying an injury and he was convinced he could get back in the team this season. This has proved to be wrong as he is not suited to this style and hopefully for him and us he will leave.
Selling Sanchez was correct as he has been a liability for years and now we can add to the squad immediately in January whilst we have to wait until Dier is sold to replace him.
One criticism I do have is that whilst I did not watch the MU game I understand they brought a kid in and he was MOM. When did we last do that? I keep on hearing about good young players in the academy but clearly Ange does not consider they are ready. Why is this? Are we not spotting future first team players. The kids get on the bench but at best get a couple of minutes and then go on loan. How long has Parot been on loan for instance. It is no good playing them in depleted Cup teams but when Phillips is fit which should be before VDV then give him a game with Romero, Porro & Udogie In a PL match.
As to the criticism of selling Kane, I agree this was money motivated over having the best squad this season.
I Agree about selling kane being money motivated & about our lack of good youth players coming through. Especially with such a think weak squad. Having 2 fairly good players who can come in & do a solid job would be a great help for ang.
Maybe it will be a feast (kane) or famine situation . But the feast only comes along every decade or so. We starve the rest of the time.

I've literally been calling for a rebuild for ages, over most people's protests. I was on board with selling Harry to City, and said we should sell Sonny while his value was maximized as well.

The quoted post had nothing to do with what had been done in the past. Whether we should have started the rebuild sooner is neither here nor there, we didn't. Now that we have, we weren't going to bring in 10+ players in 1 window to fit the tactics of a manager who'd never set foot in England or coached above the Scottish level.

We brought in 7 new players, and spend €250M (€130M net). Tons of work left to do, obviously, but it's a decent start.

Posts like this are just incredible, and show in the full light of day the weird twisted mindset of an ENIC apologist for all to see.
Them wanting enic & levy at the expense of success of this club tells you all you need to know. & it gets even more clear & obvious the longer we go failing & they literally keep picking levy & enic. Them over your all time top goalscorer.
Kane or levy. Your world class all time top goalscorer Or a millionaire chairman who is well known for not winning stuff & rips off the fans. I swear every other club it’s a no brainer… Kane of course.
Not over here though! Levy posters instead of kane. Profits over trophies.

Ange was happy to take a risk by selling Sanchez, it has come back to bite him.
Levy is not to blame for what happens on the pitch.
Do you think he should take responsibility for all the managers he keeps appointing and then sacking?

:harrylol:

Redknapp, AVB, Pochetinno, Mourinho, Conte etc.etc.etc......They all seem to fail when they work for Levy. Do you honestly think it'll be any different with Ange?

He's been trying to get it right for 23 years, matey
