Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The last 5/6 windows have all been a success if not much better than before and signs of an actual strategy hence why we find ourselves where we are now to the point where we can push on.

Not sure what you mean about the CB/wage structure thing?
Successful in terms of the players we bought are mainly good ones but the squad is struggling to cope with just one competition. We're three nil down to Brighton and we have to bring on GLC and Gil to try and save the game, we're a long way short of having a quality squad.

👍🤣 but can they have 3000 other players. My question is why would he be such a big part of what they are trying to do if they are going to get rid of him? As I said, they have enough players.

But as I said he's an academy graduate therefore they didn't pay any money for them, if they sell another player then they can only claw back what's already been amortised - so if they sell a player like Enzo who they've had for a year then it only clears about £12m seeing as the contract length is over an 8 year period and he's been there for a year (he cost them £105m)

Gallagher is pure profit on the books because they didn't pay for him so if they sell for £40m then that goes back into the club as revenue, they can't afford more losses they've already lost £500m in 4 seasons and they most probably won't qualify for the CL this season, they need to balance their books.

Also Gallagher's contract runs out in Summer 2025 and he isn't signing a new one so his value is always decreasing, he'll be cheaper in the Summer.

They could I suppose sell another one of their graduates but they either don't want to sell them (Collwill, Maatsen, James) or they just won't command much value (Broja, Sarr, Chalobah)

And the how part: if I was Barca and I wanted the Tobido deal to go through, I would offer Nice a replacement young prospect at either and attractive sale price or on a loan to buy deal. Thereby offering a mitigation of the Tobido loss and access for Nice to the revenue of the deal.

On the other hand, if the sell on clause is too onerous and in Barca's favour it may be the aspect holding things up.

Whilst this is true it has nothing to do with the debate.

I really just don’t get the Gallagher one. I don’t really think he adds anything to our squad we don’t already have, anytime I’ve seen him play he’s been far from impressive, he basically seems a carbon copy of Hojbjerg in terms of his playstyle.
And to add to all of that he’s a Chelski captain and one of their most important players.

Wish him well if he joins, It just makes zero sense.

Why not though? seems all sides are willing to do business?
Be interesting to see how much Boehley and the Chav board really don’t give a shite about the Blue Scum fan base. The cunts will be rioting if one their scummy own/captain is sold to us for a price that our Chairman will accept - as I trust our bald leader to drive a hard hard bargain with Blue Scum.

If we are to sign the blonde mediocrity- per the article below on Levy’s negotiating style, You go Mr Chairman - “squeeze [Boehley's] balls until his eyes water.” 🤣🤣🤣

Does he count as home grown?

Will be u21 when arrives under PL rules

Moved to Juve in summer 2020 when he was almost 17 (dob 4 Oct 2003) so has done (all but 2 months ish) 2 years at Chelsea before he arrived at Juve, He's be 21 in October 2024 so under uefa rules he'd get that full season in to make a 3rd year. So I think he would become HG - but would need a lawyer to agree that with uefa to be sure

Very lazy.

Bakayoko is brilliant. One of the best Belgian talents about
Matt Leblanc Whatever GIF

Fair enough I've only seen him play once.

at any rate will a long contract I'd say it's a non runner

As Ange said when he arrived - its going to take 3 or 4 transfer windows to get the squad right - he recognised we were part of way through a massive rebuild when he arrived.

And nobody rebuilds a squad in one window.

Actually you're right, not the last 6 (that would include Jan 2021) but from that Summer we signed Romero, Sarr, Gil, Emerson, Gollini - That's the first sign we actually had some sort of strategy in place

No, I really don't, can you explain because it's the first I've heard of it?

Richard Arlison Richard Arlison Hey can you explain what you meant when you said this?

Was also his wage structure that meant we couldn’t bring another CB this summer, which almost certainly cost us points.
