Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We need to see him holding the shirt, of course (and I bet that'll be at around 8pm tonight on the Spurs social media accounts), but I just want to say that if we take a step back - getting Werner in on loan (with a cheap buy option) and Dragusin by the 10th of January, and in time for the United game no less, is honestly far better than I thought we were going to do.

Still another three weeks to try and chase Gallagher if we fancy it, too.

Big props to everyone at THFC for seeing what we needed and getting on it without dithering.

Tottenham Massive Tottenham Massive

A big thank you Daniel is needed

In Romainian, so google translate may be needed but its pretty easy to guess the translation without !

"He didn't choose the money. There were more at Bayern. He said this is the right step for his career. It is to be appreciated that he chose his career before money. I don't know how many would have refused the offer we had from Bayern. There were many who did not believe that we were refusing Bayern. I said this is the right step.

There was quite a difference. Almost half as much, if not once again. But the amounts don't matter. They were never a priority. We will always choose the steps we believe are correct. I think he weighed in that he always wanted to get to the Premier League.

At one point, Tottenham was a bit far from what Genoa wanted, but I said that if the clubs agree, we will choose Tottenham. If not, it means that God wanted it that way and we go to Bayern. Tottenham made great efforts. The owner and sports director were very happy. They both worked very hard. They worked until 3 in the morning to reach an agreement.

Now they want him for 6 and a half years. We have a 5 and a half year offer.
There are still small details to be worked out, 99% we are understood", Florin Manea also declared.

Gil's got to know that the PL isn't for him (right now anyway).

He has shown moments of quality but he just seems far too lightweight to cope with the demands. If I were him I'd want to be playing week in, week out. Serie A is a bit slower paced, might suit his game more. It's still a great place to play football and Italy definitely isn't as fucking cold and wet as Enfield so I reckon he'll be open to the idea.

Hope he moves on and does well. He hasn't given anyone a reason to dislike him. Seems a good lad.

Think equating a football club being cautious with their finances to beating your wife is a little OTT tbh...
It's more the fans acting like everything is OK too quickly. We need a sustained period of non interference from Levy, and is identifying our primary targets early and wrapping the deals up efficiently.

If the owners really want Spurs to win on the pitch they need to realise this and stick to it.

They might also find that by stopping their usual tactics, that it opens doors to easier deals in the future.

Its not about a player being altruistic at all.

Most players want to be ambitious, have a decent career and earn lots of money.

He's on a decent wedge of maybe £100k pw at Palace and probably got a decent signing on fee too - but could earn a lot more at Spurs or other bigger club in europe.

Equally he isn't going to play european football at Palace.

So for all reasons, why tie yourself to Palace for life when you could test yourself in europe and earn more at Spurs.

But if he wants a quiet uneventful life, then he's probably not right for Ange football !
The two things are distinctly separate.

The comment about being altruistic was in reference to signing a new 3.5 year contract, with a buyout clause so that CP wouldn't have to sell him cheap, when he was coming up on the summer window before his contract expires - a situation that maximizes the players' leverage in getting a move. On top of that, he's 25 meaning it aligns with his "prime", again a great time for a player to move.

My comment about him being the next Zaha was directly related to that decision indicating to me that it's possible he fancies being a well paid big fish in a small pond.

Anyway, no point arguing about it. I'd be happy to sign him but I doubt he moves anywhere before the summer of 2025. Gallagher is available now, so that's where I fall at this point.

Especially if they aren't even vaguely German. Madridistas are fucking obnoxious and entitled on social media, but at least La Liga has a kind of glamour. Becoming a glory hunter for the team in a farmer's league is properly scum-tier behaviour.
The German league is weird as fuck tbh, at least with clubs like City and PSG you can see that when the money goes they will regress to the mean, albeit from a higher base level than before. The entire German league seems systemically set up to protect Bayern's status as its dominant overlord, and the club themselves do no favours in creating a competitive league, pillaging every half decent player that comes through at their direct rivals and largely selling any deadwood abroad.

I think Gil will stick around until Solomon is back.

Nice idea but in practical terms; looking at squad balance, Eze would be more of a GLC replacement than a PEH replacement.

We don’t need a PEH replacement. We need an 8 and the ITK says we are looking for an 8 type. Eze much better 8 than Gallagher who’s fundamentally just another Rice or PEH with better lungs.

The thing with Eze is, he fills two remits , one as an eight and one as a wide forward, who can also dribble at people, again, another function, where lacking.

And he’s HG. With a great attitude by all accounts.
