Thank you for them posts, matey...always taking the time to explain where we're at re HG, CT etc. Think it's also you who's on top of all things youth teams. Much appreciated.

Only thing I'll say is, if Ange really is being serious about us having a proper go at trophies next season and not (just) selling his own brand, well...the above squad ain't strong enough, especially for the league title. Unless City & Woolwich crumble (Klopp-less LFC an enigma), we don't stand a chance IMHO.

Could do with a better backup goalie, but mainly we need 2 solid FB, an extra CB, a beast at No 6, better options than Kulu & Solomon (who?) on the wings...and if Bergvall ain't ready yet, another CAM would be good, especially if Mads keep disappearing for months. A younger and better ST wouldn't go amiss either.

I really wanna believe Ange and his powers to persuade Levy, and I really wanna believe this time it'll be different...but the past has taught us that it's pretty likely we'll be left 2 or 3 players short come the end of the next window.

Thanks - yes I'm one of the youth watchers and try to explain where we are with HG, but there's a few of us.

If we repeat last season's window in terms of quality of players coming in, I'll be more than happy. We've almost got to a stage where we have a full squad - just need to upgrade a few. And worth remembering that integrating players takes time and its not easy to recruit say 2 cm's as its not obvious sometimes how the cm3 will gel and play together.

A good example to look back to on that is Jol in about 2005, he was given 20 new players (half fiirst team half u21's) but it wasn't until 2nd season when he got a team playing together properly - we came 5th (best position for almost 20 years) after being 4th from Christmas through to last day of the season ..... and Lasagnegate.

So it will take another couple of windows to complete the rebuild (Ange suggested 3 windows) but if we bring in the right players even say 4 new players in will make a huge difference to the team/first team squad which should mean injuries/suspensions/loss of form impact us less as we have a decent sized quality squad next season (even this season I think we have say 15 core players plus Royal/Davies decent players but d not fit system, Hojbjerg/Lo Celso etc - but next season hopefully closer to 20 core players)

And a key issue is - availability of players (they want to come, right attitude, right price etc) .... and we can move on players in our squad and unwanted loanees. And that's not easy to overcome.

That's something that even Mancity throwing unearned money has been able to overcome - hence buying but not playing Phillips, selling their best u21 player (Palmer) to Chelsea as they couldn't easily play him. So I fully expect to end the window with a few players who I'd prefer not to have, but this issue will reduce over the next couple of windows.

Maybe if you want compare apples and oranges and think that those fees were high for world-class highly in demand footballers. But no problem if you think Toney would cost £60m this summer.

Ultimately player prices will be determined by how many other clubs want a player.

We got Maddison cheap last summer as our main competition for him, Newcastle, spent money on other players so not enough left to outbid us.

With Toney, if Woolwich, us and say another top 6 club want him ..... its a question as to which club thinks he is their best option at age 28 at a certain price point. So that might be £60m

If we are the only serious bidder, maybe £40m is right

Frimpong (Leverkusen) has a release clause of 40m apparently, and spent 10 years at Man City’s academy. Would this make him HG?

If so, would be a great buy.

Frimpong born 2000 left ManCity in 2019 aged 19 with no overseas loans in that time, so will be HG.

But on 3 October 2023, he extended his contract until 2028 - are you sure the release clause is 40m in this contract or his old contract ?.

Two World Class, internationally established players v a Brentford striker who's only just establishing himself for England? It's not even set in stone that he'll be going to the Euro's yet.

You're comparing apples with oranges.

As I said...

Mount, 24, who had one year remaining on his Chelsea contract, is United's first signing of the summer transfer window.

Yeah I don't know what England has to do with their respective value's.

One is a striker, one is a midfielder - striker's normally go for a premium...

Playing for England in a world cup makes a player twice as marketable. It absolutely impacts the valuation a club charges.

There is zero chance Brentford get 60m for Toney. Anyone paying over 35m plus addons is out of their mind. No resale value and probably 2 decent seasons left in him.

lol honestly where do you get this shit from? 😆

As I said before it's a pointless argument, we won't know until the Summer so...
