Assuming he was talking only about the fans, what purpose have his comments served? He's burned through some of the good will he had with fans. None of it had to happen and nothing was accomplished by it.

If you point out that Mourinho did the same gaslighting and deflecting you are ridiculed though. Mourinho before he came in the job said he watched Tottenham on the TV under Poch and thought our base position was third and with him we should be first.
He left us in 5th-7th like most other managers. Fuck all to do with the loyal supporters.
It's an emotional reaction. Supporters cheering for the opposition in the stadium could make any manager wonder wtf kind of shitshow the club is.
He came across poorly with his response to the "proportion" question. Nothing wrong with the question at all.
Hopefully he gets backed and then he's got 10-15 games to show us a good team again

I think he was just venting because he was pissed off. If you apply what he said to the players then he meant Porro for their goals and Son for the missed sitter. Two of his favourite players. I am sure he would say something else today.
The problem he has made for himself now is that he will be asked to explain what he meant. It’s good in a way that the season is soon over and he can have some time in Brisbane.

Losing last night ONLY mattered BECAUSE we lost 4 in row in the OTHER BIG games.
If Ange wants to have a go at the fans... he should maybe ask himself WHY we even kept coming back after FOUR DEFEATS on the bounce, against teams who WERE in and around us, and winning ANY of them would've put us in a stronger position for CL Qualification.
To not be unhappy 'cos we LOST against the ONLY team who can now stop Woolwich, beggars the question that WE coulda been the team to stop Woolwich by beating them a few weeks ago... but we failed to do that... same as we failed to capitalise on our great start this season, and failed to change our tactics when EVERY fucker had worked us out... guess what, the FANS he lambasted, saw that coming in JANUARY...
Just a shame the Guy who CAN change the team tactics/formation chose stubbornly not to... mate!

Okay, he's understandably in disagreement with anyone who wanted Spurs to lose last night, and that pissed him off, but I sense that it's not the entire picture. Conflicts behind the scenes would be my guess, possibly brought to a head by the win/lose debate.
He came very close to losing it and showing his 'Mr Angry' side, which is why he had to walk out of the presser.
It looks to me like there's a battle of wills going on behind the scenes, with Ange's position being 'My Way or No Way'. Who's not fully onboard with him? No idea, but the Summer will be interesting, one way or another. I don't think we'll be starting next season as a 'carry-on' film - changes are afooooooot.

The foundations are not fragile. He has good players to work with. Spurs have great fans who have been far better to him than his recent comments deserve. The part of this equation that is fragile is his ego.

It was our press officer who stopped it, not Postecoglou. He looked like he was fine to carry on but our guy called it a day. Watch again how it ends.
We’ve heard far worse from managers before, some of it from our own.
The whole thing is being blown out of proportion IMHO.
We want our players to show some steel and backbone, yet we’re whining about some comments that could be taken either way, said in the emotion of post match where he’s seen his own team’s fans happy to lose and not being quiet about it either.
We need to harden up as fanbase and stop forensically dissecting everything looking for the negative.

But is it? Not trying to be disagreeable, but how would anyone begin to measure that? There's been a lot of turnover of players, so you can't put it all down to any attitude they carried over. As for the fans, I think they have been very supportive of him. Most games (granted I watch them on TV) the fans sound like they are enthusiastic. Up until recently Postecoglou had turned the press room into a petting zoo. The media has treated him with kid gloves. As for player acquisitions, the front office seems in sync with him or at least he's said that a number of times. There's nothing about Spurs he didn't know when he took the job. The mentality he has to work own belongs to himself.
For sure, I think the fans are amazing and I don’t think that’s bias talking, especially compared to other clubs. But I don’t think that it’s unrealistic to say that the fans are super restless as well, and rightly so. There is frustration with the club, the players, and the coach so while he would love just 100% pure backing from the fans that isn’t the case at the moment.
We have a handful of elite players with the right mentality, a bunch of high quality players with super fragile mentality, and a bunch that just aren’t good enough. You don’t win anything with that combination.
I think what people are getting caught up in is that they think Ange called them specifically “fragile”. He called the foundations fragile.
Yep, 100% agreed. That is next level blame game to shit on fans and everything, after:
- you have delivered 10 points from 10 EPL games;
- you oversaw your squad totally fucking embarrassed and ripped apart within first half of NLD despite having 14 days to come up with solutions to play better and be prepared;
- you haven't got the team to play even 1 (!) game in 2024 well from start to finish (Villa game hardly counts, they played most 2nd half with 10 men and they were dangerous to our goal even on 80th minute while being 0:2 down)
- you have been faced with painfully obvious issues in defending and has seen your coached team to keep 1 (!) clean sheet within 18 (!) games
- within last month, ONLY two goals from attackers in open play came when Liverpool was already 4:0 up; apart from that we either have not scored, converted penalty or saw our defenders score goals, cause in attack there is 0 fucking idea and pointless horseshoe football
After all that to come out and divert blame for doing pathatically shit job - it is borderline outrageous.
Eat an humble-pie and look into mirror before calling others names.

The mentality of this club is on the floor, from owner to management to players to fans, if there wasn't much evidence of it over the last 30 years or so when we've only picked up 3 trophies since 1991 for Christ's sake.
We obviously lack a winning culture which is a collective issue and since that's happened our fans no longer have the belief of anything this club does, look at the reaction in here over the past few weeks for example our fans have turned on yet another manager in the space of a few weeks.
It's a collective issue that needs addressing from top to bottom, to bottom to top.
Not gonna read through so many pages of pitch-fork hunting, but thank god we still have some sensible posts like these just when I saw it.
I don't know why would we be arguing amongst ourselves, in all honesty, when both Ange and fans are stating facts. Can only hope for when everyone's expectation aligns, we can both see each other's perspectives.
