That wouldn't be "spunking"; it would be carefully coating with an exquisite glaze.
Fuck that, we'd all be spunking.

Unfortunately, for this team to be competitive, we need one stronger DF, one stronger MF, and one stronger FW.

We are just too average in so many aspects and, if we don't raise the overall level, then next season will be a copy and paste of this one.
100% this. The glaring lack of real quality in key positions in the team is something that will continuously hold us back until its properly addressed.

Realistically if we want to genuinely compete next year, we need to bring in a top class ball playing 6 that we can rely on and build the midfield around, top class number 9 and a top class winger.

The sad thing is, there’s absolutely no reason we shouldn’t be able to do this, but in reality it’s just never, ever going to happen under this regime.

If I’m the DOF, I'm only looking for players that are first team ready for these priority positions, my list would look something like:

LF
Kvaratskhelia
Mitoma
Eze (RF/8/F9)
Simons (RW/8?)
Williams(N)
Gordon (LF)(HG)
Rodrygo (RF)
Pulisic (RF)
Sancho (RF) (HG)
ThuramM (CF)
Barcola (LF/CF)
Musiala(8)
Tel

CF
Isak
Osimhen
ThuramM (LF)
Openda
Sesko
Guirassy
Boniface
Darwin (LF) (if Liverpool want to cash out - I'd take a punt)
Toney (HG)

If we get rid of Richarlison we need a back up list also:

Undav
Wahi
Moffi
De Ketelere (RW)

RF (I'm struggling a bit here)
Olise
Kudus
Neto (Injuries permitting obviously)
Bakayoko

Back up options for development
Zhergrova
Amin Adli (not first team ready maybe but he can go inside and outside so worth listing)

8
Wirz (RF)
Brandt (RF/LF)
Eze (LF/RF) (HG)
Musiala (LF)
GomesA (HG)
MGW (HG)
Gallagher (HG)
ThuramK
Majer

I know many are unlikely and will get laughs, but I've listed players who would be more or less sure to upgrade us regardless of likelihood or at least first team good enough, unless otherwise stated. I'm sure I'm missing some, especially from places like Spain and Portugal where I watch very little football. I've kept it mostly to the ideal age profile (with the odd exception).

Spurs have to spend big money if they really want to have a chance to win the league. The elite players don't want to come because no champions league football. We should chase a couple of those crystal palace guys, Eze and Olise they are both upgrades for our team. Also gotta get a striker from somewhere, there are plenty around but they are expensive and there are no guarantees that they will have a good season.

Looks like Lenny Yorro's off to PSG (although he's holding out for RM apparently). These 18yo kids never fucking learn. Go somewhere where you are going to play football every week or stay at Lille for a couple more years at least, good club who play good football.

Is there really any expectation of winning the league? City have won it every year bar the COVID year for the past 7 seasons.

Woolwich have an excellent young squad, and will no doubt add an elite striker this summer. Meanwhile, Spurs have about 12 players that they need to get shot of.

Realistically, its a battle for top 4 and a domestic cup as the best case scenario; and we won't do that unless one of our players steps up as the next Bale or Kane.

This is a great list. I would have CHO and Summerville on the LF list but what this shows is how many options there are and also how much work there is to do….

Simons on loan for a season is a great budget stretcher. Guirassy has a release clause at €17.5m so also stretches budget.

Guirassy
Simons (loan)/Eze
Olise/Bakayoko
Gallagher/MGW

From your list if we went and got 4 from that group I’d be very confident we could take a step up in level. I left off the names we’d all love but already know aren’t realistic, like Isak, Openda, Sesko, Wirtz, Musiala etc
