Out of interest though.....Do you think ENIC are serious about winning? Rather than purely financial

If so, why do you think they consistently fail so miserably?
maybe because we don’t exists in a vacuum Nd don’t play in a league of one where other teams also want to win and sometimes even bend the rules to do so at ours/others expense

I’ll make an assessment over the summer and get back to you at the end of the transfer window if that’s ok

👍🏾
OK. I'll rephrase the question.

Do you think ENIC have been serious about winning up until this transfer window? You know, over the past 24 years

If so, why do you think they've failed so miserably, And what encourages you to think this window will be different from all those that have gone before?

My pesimism clearly riles you..... So.....Please help me share your optimism

Au contraire, ma cherie. I'm far from riled. I am, in fact, extremely laid back.

I'm afraid I don't really focus on board-level details. I'm no expert on ENIC, unlike yourself, perhaps.

I don't spend endless hours reading about and writing about board level antics and details.

My football passion is limited to and exclusively from grassroots up to managerial level only.

Sorry to disappoint you my friend. :angehug:

I think Bissouma and Bentancur will play the deeper role. Skipp will go.

Gallagher and Sarr as a rotation for the B2B 8 is very very good tbh. I'd even play them together in a double pivot for some games as well.

Took me a long time to get my head around it but I do think we need Gallagher. As long as he's not the main signing and we do something serious about our attack.
We’re going nowhere with Biss or Bentancur in the deeper role mate. Nowhere. The couple of times Bentancur played it last season he was horrific. So bad that Ange used to play Hojbjerg there ahead of him.

I think Gallagher would be a decent squad signing in isolation, but he certainly wouldn’t be a signing that elevates us in any real way by way of improving our first 11.

Bissouma is very good there but allowed his mindset to get sabotaged.

Bentancur was sensational there for 45 mins before Cash hacked him down. He only started fully recovering at the very end of the season.

None of the 6’s we’ve been linked to are giving me any confidence they are better than either Biss or Bentancur

And while he was healthy under Conte he was basically a 1 man midfield Can't judge players while the injured or returning from injury.

We saw it was Sonny this year vs the prior season. We saw the difference Richy can make while healthy. We saw how terrible Maddison was returning from injury.

I’m sorry but there just isn’t any really long term tangible evidence that Bissouma is the long term answer there. He’s still living off them fabled 10 games at the start of last season. He’s had 2 seasons here now and whilst hes show flashes of quality, for the most part he’s been sloppy, ill disciplined and lazy. Nowhere near good enough to rely on in such a vital role.

And re Bentancur, serious? you cannot base your assessment on a player based on 45 mins.

I agree none of the 6’s we’ve been linked with seem like an upgrade, but that’s mainly because we haven’t really been linked with many at all.

The position and type of midfield Bentancur played in under Conte was completely different. Literally apples and oranges stuff.

Conte essentially doesn’t use his midfield to build up the play at all. The midfielders are water carriers and workers. Nothing more. He always plays with a double pivot. There’s no real responsibility on either player to control the tempo of a game.

The 6/DM in Agnes’s system is more a traditional ‘regista’ role. He plays between the 2 centre backs and is tasked with essentially running the midfield, building the attacks whilst also protecting the back 4.
It’s a role neither Bissouma/Bentancur are good enough technically or have the require skillset to perform, IMO.

Bentancur was one of our best players before his ACL

That's what I'm basing it on.

Conte never played Bissouma.
