Raphina is still being mentioned by some at Spurs….

Fucking hope not
Manor Solomon when back from Injury will be doing this no?Sure but Doue definitely prefers the wing. He might be able to play 10 but he is more of a winger, a dribbly one too that beats defenders either way which is what we are crying out for against low block sides
Don't obsess over the value of the transfer fee for a player.
All our competitors routinely spend +£60m on almost all of their players now!! We have revenues bigger than all bar 3 of them now, so we are now swimming in the lane we have always aspired to, this is what it looks like.
If you want to focus on "value" then that's on what we pay them on wages. This is where the danger is if the player isn't any good, as they can sit on your books on inflated salaries and no one else can afford to take him off your hands (every club is littered with these mistakes). Transfer values are amortised over the contracts meaning future transfer fees can easily be obtained but only if the salaries can be afforded by the new club (and they rarely are). And our expertise has been to keep our salaries at a base way lower than our competitors, in fact, we have the best wage-to-revenue % in the division.
Spending £30m-£40m on an 18yr old (Archie Gray) for example means that by the time he's 22 with a year left on his contract, he stands us in at £8m!! This is the same across all the young players we've signed recently and as they are young I'm assuming that their wages are "relatively low" (I'd be surprised they are above £100k per week).
Eze is in a different bracket, he's 26 so likely his next move is to be his last in the top flight, his wage demands are likely to also be high as a result but as he's at palace I assume they are still affordable for us, coupled with a buyout clause that requires this to be paid upfront means this is a huge investment. And because of PSR that makes us one of about only 2 or 3 clubs that could entertain this deal. It also means that despite all the press noise surrounding him Palace do not have a queue of Clubs competitively fighting over his signature, which is actually very bad for Palace, who would love to sell him if they want to continue investing in the squad (he's 26 - approaching his maximum value but with 2yrs remaining on his contract - currently stands them in on their books at £6m), right now Palace position is to say he's not for sale (as we did with Bale), whilst secretly keeping their collective fingers crossed one of the 2/3 clubs blink and make a move for him.
I love the fact we are linked with him and the likes of Williams, Neto, Doue etc I'd happily see any of these at Spurs with probably Eze being the most expensive option when you take his age, wage and upfront lump fee need to be paid (bet that can be chipped away at if we really are one of a couple of clubs sniffing). We offloaded a lot of players already, some that have been on massive wages (Ndombele, Kane, Lloris, Peresic all on approx £200k pw, with Dier, Sess, Sanchez, Winks, Moura and soon-to-be Reggie, Royal & PEH all on competitive wages with Rodon, Tanganga & Spence on smaller wages) I think we can afford to roll the dice on a player if those within the club think he can come in a fit the system but might turn to shit under the Tottenham "expensive hires jinx".
1. Fully agree that we need the club to have the conviction to pay for the best players of they feel it improves us.
2. If Levy and Munn have give Lange and Ange a budget to work with, I can see why they might spend it on 2 players instead of 1.
Not an easy decision. Think choices like that always look easier for a player like a #9 or lone #6 because they are such integral parts of a the spine down the middle of the team. Not saying don't go and get Eze bit if I was in Lange's shoes and I felt I could get Doue and Neto instead of just Eze because I could pay for the 2 in longer installments over one massive lump for Eze....I would probably do that.
He's the best player that doesn't particularly fit into a role in this team unless you're happy to splash that kind of money on a player just because he's got skillzzz
Ange said only a few weeks ago, that we will never be the club to spend 100m on a player, and besides he's sooner have two 50m players.
Quite right too.
Just where has Grealish disappeared to?
Yeah I heard him say that.
He thinks there isn't much difference between the players that cost 100m and the ones that cost 50m.
Not sure I fully agree with him on that. In terms of Spurs, the players that fit our wage structure are almost certainly never worth 100m price tags so he is right there.
Rodri would certainly cost more than 100m and better than anyone that could be signed for 50m IMO at least.
Apparently yes…
