But it's silly the list of players who have been great in tournaments and go on to be top draw is endless. It's one of those stupid football clichés, it's right up there with "can he do it at Stoke on a cold Tuesday night" utterly meaningless.

I think the point is, you shouldn’t buy players based on their performance at international tournament football. It’s completely different and the sample size is tiny.

Doesn’t mean there aren’t great players that could do great for you at tournaments.

Obviously it's always about scouting. Which is why that cliche is stupid. It's merely stating don't buy a player you have only watched a few times. Which is hardly the case with Danny Olmo, the person referenced, he's been on our radar for a very long time.I find the idea he wouldn't improve us farcical

I think assist count is very dubious. For example you could just make a simple square pass to a player who then does a shimmy left to right or whatever and then bangs it into top corner. Is that really an assist?
sometimes they are the goal, like some of the passes KDB pulls off. sometimes they are a simple pass to feet like tom carroll for bale against west ham.

its why actually watching the games is far more important than just reading a stat sheet.....theres a stat that dier only got dribbled past once last year for bayern! if you didnt watch the games youd think he was maldini. but when you watch him you realise why, the cunt backs off until they can shoot so its hard to dribble past someone who doesnt want to challenge for the ball.

lloris also had a good kicking stat...his kicks were awful! his team mate might of got a head to it before it goes out of play for being over hit, or get a touch on it before being clattered because it was a hospital ball that was underhit....stats can be very misleading!

You mean just this one? How many players are younger than him and already at a better level in terms of pure footballing ability. May be defenders mature better as they get older. But wide players generally are in their pomp when they are younger.

No literally all players mature at different ages, football is littered with them do your research...there's no hard and fast rule when a player is meant to suddenly his his strike and players generally reach their peak around 28 anyway.

I'm not even that hot on Johnson but there's so much nonsense spoke about him, give the guy a chance, we all know his deficiencies, he's at the right club to work on them.

Boring convo.

Sadly true. Annoyingly seems to be the ones who post a lot on here so the forum can start to look a bit weird if they're all on ignore, but it's probably for the best.

It's funny because at some point you and him are gonna beef on here - you're actually a decent poster and pretty knowledgeable but the guy you're speaking with lol I don't think I've ever seen him say anything worthwhile I'm actually convinced he sniffs his mum's knickers...the fact that he never uses capital letters is unnerving, if ever there was a sign of serial killer vibes that's definitely it...

That's fair and he's a technically sound player which is always a plus, but i don't think anyone here is talking about him without him playing well the last few matches.

Also think his best position in Ange's team would be in the 10 spot. He brings similar attributes as Maddison which is fine, but I would prefer someone like Eze who is a different profile if i had to choose between Olmo and Eze.
