As useful as his defensive contribution is, whatever it is, it’s no good if it’s attached to a ploddy attacker who slows every attack to a standstill, can’t beat a man and wastes the ball a lot.

I’d much rather get a really good attacking footballer and teach him to press.
WALOB
Are there any ploddiness stats?
How many bringing attacks to a standstill stats are there?
As usual you are giving an opinion.
How much money do you want to spend on an attacker that needs to be taught the basics?

Well, my point would be that maybe his 1v1 stats look really good because he’s often in space and can just run past people.

It will be difficult for him to be that rampaging runner against the low block.

Hope I’m wrong but if we do buy him, then I think it’s almost certain that he won’t look like the dynamic player he is at Wolves (even if he does stay fit).

If you watch this video it shows you that he's more than capable playing on transition and more than capable of playing in no space with players surrounding him - for example this is typical of the kind of shape we play against, look at all this space on the wing:

Now imagine a player like Neto playing against his full back, he'd have a field day against him.

Low block teams are a bit of a myth these days anyway, like how many teams set out in a low defensive shape and exclusively play on the counter? Not many. The vast majority of teams sit in a defensive shape and put 11 men behind the ball regardless of intent, it's the same for everyone including the teams Wolves faced - they don't exclusively play against low block teams and their game plan wasn't just focused on transitions hence why those stats are key.

Anyway all moot, doubt we sign him and if we do I hope we don't spend stupid amounts on him

We have more than enough wealth to acquire eze, Neto, tony and lb cover.

Don't let Levy's were a small club trying to compete brainwash u

We're pretty much only behind men city in spending power right now in England

With the little caveat that we earned 100m from selling a certain someone...

Recouped £100m for player sales last season from Kane/Winks/Sanchez

Still need to sell, Emerson, Hojbjerg, Lo Celso, Reguilon, Skipp, Gil, Spence, Solomon, Richy (possibly) have already recouped £10 from Rodon - we can get near to £100m again.

Season before we only recouped around £32m and our outlay was £153

Not saying it will happen but taking into account our trajectory we can certainly push it.

No way Levy pays anything near 60m for either Neto or Doue, just never going to happen. Both too expensive for his taste, as both huge gambles. We will either wind up with Eze, who ticks more boxes in that he is home grown, has premiership experience and no paper hamstrings or a 20-30m gamble on another up and coming player.
Go get a proper striker if blowing amounts of 60m+
Rather have their chairman than ours
He will get Levy’d and lose it

I'm glad I deleted my post now... Seeing as there's SUCH a strong Levy sentiment on here...

Get "Levy'd" how, exactly?

We all know why we're despised...

We've spent plenty... Yet people still believe the narrative.... and what's that exactly?

Just some can't quite admit it!

Underrated ability when it comes to pressing is the way it effects the rest of your game.

You can teach a player to press but there is a natural ability required. That much running isn’t a good mix with players who also use strength and power in their game. It’s basically different energy systems in the body. Not every player can run and press that much without negatively impacting the rest of their game.

"Ploddy attacker who slows every attack to a standstill 😡🤬" : 33 goals/assists in 84 games

"Really good attacking footballer 😍😍" : 20 goals/assists in 111 games

Fair point. Also there's the £8m from Parrott, so that's £18 from him and Rodon. Then, conservatively:

Emerson £18m
Hojbjerg £15m
Gio £12m
Reguilon £8m
Skipp £12m
Gil £7m
Spence £8m
Richy £40m

That's an additional £120, but we won't manage to ship all those players, I imagine a few will be loans. We probably won't find any takers for Solomon either.

The big one is the Richy fee, and much as I want to move him on a lot will come down his willingness to go to Saudi, which I don't really see happening. I don't see who else plumps up the cash for him or where he'd be willing to go.
