How Dry should our Powder be?

This is another trope used to gaslight. His perceived lack of success means bugger all. He had a productive relationship with Kane from EU21, the so called dodged bullet is nothing of the kind.

It's sliding doors moment, we buy him we add Sonny and it is this triumph that fires us to a European champions league and league winning team. Under the guidance of Pochettino Berahino's whole career could have been diffrent. Levy's parsimonious nature could have cost the club and Berahino this interpretation is just as valid as the so called 'dodged bullet ' the cultists favour. And NO last summer I didn't want Orban.
Did you just try and turn Berahino’s shit career into Levy’s fault ?

So you don't think Ange should pull his finger out and get the team playing?

I propose he should tweak his tactics to make us a bit harder to beat. Not defensive, but have it so that the opposition don't find it so easy to get at our CBs. Carragher said the other night you don't even see Pep with the inverted full backs do suicideally high. It's mental. Ange is stubborn and he thinks because it's worked in shite leagues it'll work here. It won't. You've believe in Ange and the project fine, I'm seeing signs he's very very naive and is getting found out big time.

We are so predctable, get the ball wide and fizz it across the box.

As I say I hope I am wrong, and tomorrow we put in a performance. I hope Ange works out, but I just don't see his tactics working here unless he has the best players in the league. it's all a bit Aussie Beilsa so far to me.
Who is high up the pitch doesn't matter, because the system calls for players covering each other's position when said position gets vacated. That takes a while to learn and get used to. The system is not the problem. It's the application and the right player profile. And you're not going to get either after just one season.

How many more will we get in before the window Slams shut? We all know Levy lives for the last 12 hours and with powder as dry as us I'm expecting a couple of rabbits out his hat!

I just feel you have really drank the Ange kool aid mate. His system is naive. I absolutely do think the system is the problem, and if he doesn't tweak it and he sticks rigidly to it, he'll be gone by Xmas.

Totally appreciate I could be wrong, and I will be delighted to be, because it will mean we are winning every week and successful.

Or eze or pedro neto? We don't know do we.

But if I was to get nico out of bilbao it would be to take a similar approach to what Woolwich are exploring as we speak.

Trigger the 48 million release clause or even just offer 70 million if that doesn't exist, then offer him 200k a week and tell him he's guaranteed starting place and we're building a team to challenge for top honours. I'd also give him a release clause so the door remains open to Barcelona if they come in down the line.
Nico wanted £300k a week, and this was before Club Athletic handed him the no10 shirt. And Bilbao will be in Europa, Woolwich can offer CL but even then…

With Bilbao because everyone is homegrown and they pay a minuscule amount for transfers, they actually pay their players very well. Man Utd took 2 years to get Ander Herrera for example.

All good interesting context. Time will tell once he makes his next move I guess. Hopefully stays loyal to bilbao

Obviously getting big Dom in was very important for us and we spent a lot of time working on that deal but once Dom was done there was one target and that was Wilson and that happened really quickly.

I believe Ange and not spammyspurs.

Werner on loan and Solanke are the only players we've signed who are over 20, so despite the good signings of the youngsters i think its a resounding no. If anyone would have said they'd have been happy with this back in May i think they're lying.

Done well on the outs though, i'll give them that but in its way that rubs it in even more with the reduction in the squad and the wage bill.
If we nose dive this season, once fans realise the amount our wage bill has dropped (probably nearly as much as we’ve spent), it’s gonna get ugly again for Levy big time.

Yeah, we aren't paying a release clause upfront and Levy isn't offering £70m for a teenager...

He will earn more than that at Barca, and it seems he's rather stay than go anywhere except Barca. 🤷‍♀️

Should have gone all in early in Eze and/or Neto.

I personally think that there's hesitation behind the scenes from the board as to how long Ange will be here, in terms of results and pulling the trigger.
Eze was never going to happen. The club cannot sanction a lump sum payment in that amount. The issue with the RC was that it all needs to be paid up front. I don't know why our fans think that was ever really an option.

I meant more going in early above that RC and paying installments as we have with Solanke to a degree.

We would have known what the clause was and that it had an expiry.

There’s an obvious space in the Barcelona side waiting for him, it’s just a matter of if they can come up with what Bilbao want.
The simple answer to that question is "They can't".

They can't even register Dani Olmo because of FFP restrictions. They're going to have to sell some more of the (rapidly diminishing) family silver, what they euphemistically call "leverage", but even that isn't going to be enough. There's talk of the directors having to loan the club €20 million out of their own pockets.

Mess of a club.
