Pav was fucking shite holding it up, your username is apt. Crouch brought far more to the side.
Yeah, it really suited us having a hold up striker to play in Jermain Defoe to sky it over the bar for the 15th time that game..

I'm not even arguing Pav was good but he was an actual striker who could actually score, which made him miles better than donkey Crouch, whose hold up play consisted of 15 fouls a game on oppo defenders and balls dinging off his head for a throw-in. I feel like you can't have actually watched the peak terrorball we played with Crouch up top to have this opinion tbh, he scores 1 meaningful tap-in and people have got rose tinted glasses on for the rest of time. Lucas Moura scored a hattrick to get us in the CL final but I don't see anyone here lining up to suck him off, give it 5 years I suppose people will forget all those head-down runs into blind alleys just like they're forgetting Crouchs dismal play.

Why? Got Udogie with Spence looking good as a back up. Davies if needed for europe games. Vdv if needed and dragusin in the middle. If we've got money left, it needs to be put towards a Position where we actually need it

Spence aint a LB though.

We definitely need a LB, a left footer on that side and someone decent to realistically push Destiny this season.

Would prefer someone more natural than Spence tbh

If they can also play LCB even better. Don't like Dragusin on the left. Think we need better than Davies.

I suspect the club were looking at Gray as opposed to Wharton
No idea tbh..... different windows, price bracket, type of player, age, stage of development etc. other than that they fit the same category.

My point was really that his name had been linked to us in that particular window and Parrish openly admitted last week on radio that his procurement wasn't down to any concerted preplanned pursuit of the player other than the incumbent manager asking for a certain type and someone mentioning his name.

I agree they are both gems but Wharton is further(imo) forward in his development at less than half the price and possesses the distribution ability that we are absolutely lacking in the CM department atm.

Might well come down to player choice though - he thought he had better chancres of first team minutes at Palace, which is true. And he used his time well to get on the plane with the England squad. I don't think he would have got that game time at Spurs

Certainly I'd have liked to sign Wharton when he went from Blackburn to Palace but having got Gray and Bergvall, and with other good CM's coming through Spurs youth, I don't see us trying to sign Wharton late in this window

Why do you think Ange will succeed if given time, where every Levy appointed manager before him has failed / been sacked. Like all 13 of them.
What sets Postecoglou apart from the rest?
To be honest I thought the way he handled the club last summer I was pretty impressed.

Contes moment along with Paratici ban made us a bit of a laughing stock, we were a real mess. Big money Signings in Porro and Richarlison weren't looking good, to be fair to Postecoglou he got a tune out of them.

Kane left a day before the start of season, without a real replacement coming in.

Postecoglou handled all that very well.

While trying to play a way where we dominate the ball.

I think he manages people well and in principle has a good idea that resonates well with the club, hopefully before he is done here we are successful in winning trophies.

Sounds like we’re probably done. Would like a LB and attacker. Hopefully a good opportunity comes along.

We need a LB badly, Davies doesn’t really have the legs for this system and Spence isn’t a LB even though he can do a cover job.

A team that wants to challenge for anything needs two good players per position.

Yeah it's clear we need a more suitable option to take Davies' spot on the bench, that would round the squad out nicely.

Eventually Moore will need to be added to that bench at the expense of Werner, Johnson or one of the defenders.

Moore looks quality, I think he got 3 G/A against Bristol the other day. Guy has elite skill and more importantly an elite brain.

My only current concern is in some pre-season games he is still a kid, he isn’t Rooney or Lamal who are/were men at 16, people go through puberty at different rates and he isn’t doing a Rooney. He still gets pushed around a little bit, that will be fixed by age and the gym but he still might be a year off influencing big games.

On the positive side having a natural football brain which he clearly has is the most importantly ingredient in becoming a world class player and he does seem to have that which is rare.
