More than that. We are already 4 points behind 7th, 5 behind Villa.

We need 10-12 points from this batch of games to catch up including wins against United, Brighton and Villa to catch them and curtail their momentum. Otherwise we pick up some points but remain further away.
Still think at this stage unless it is looking extreme, and we are still in the cups, Levy won't pull the trigger.

If we are sitting 8th-10th and still in the cups Ange won't be sacked. So 9 points from the next 15 is probably fine.

Nuno and Poch were both sacked in the November break, with us still in cup competitions. Don't be so sure.

When the crowd start cranking up the noise - specifically to Levy - he will act. He's not oblivious to what's happening and he'll certainly have the back block of 28 games from last season in his mind. I wonder if that's why Ange wasn't "fully supported" this summer.

9 points probably buys Ange more time for sure, but if it's 6 or less he will go.

No other manager will do better when they have to choose from Son on current sh!t form, Kulu, Brennon, Wermer and the youngsters signings of the summer. The mid is no better.

Yesterday against woolwich, Ange took off Brennon, Bent and whoever and brought on Wilson, Wermer and Sarr. Who on earth expected anything significant from the subs?!

To make matters worse, Woolwich had 2 decent forwards to bring on in Sterling and Jesus.

I think Son is finished. We have to rely on Solanke to deliver but he needs support from donkeys around him.
Another manager might have brought Bergvall on. And another manager might not have wanted to keep Werner on after the summer on £150k a week - that was Ange’s choice.
And Ange wanted Johnson.
And Wilson , Ange said he wanted since the start of the summer.

Now we know he isn’t able to feed from the top table in the transfer market (which he would have known before joining us) but these players had his strong blessing - he’s made that very clear.

Yep plus we've got form for fumbling against Spammers whether home or away.
Palace always give us a game at their place.

West Ham and Palace come after the international break.

I reckon even if we pick up 3 from 9 points in the next 3 league games but we beat Cov and win the two EL games he will survive.
If there is no uptick in those 2 PL games post break then I agree he's probably gone.

I actually worded my post wrong. I meant I don't think he'll survive all 5 of those league games.
If we have a horror show and lose 3 nil to West Ham, much like how AVB did in 2013, he's done. And I can see it. Not because I rate them at all, but because by then, the players will have had enough.

its a serious handicap when the opposition are allowed to be flexible and you aint.

the fact that even better sides than us are coming to just soak it up and counter shows how silly it all is. its an easy game for them because they know exactly how it will play out if they just get compact and counter.

I said this would happen before we played City and Woolwich towards the end of last season. It's like a world class boxer coming up against a prat who swings a lot. Keep swerving. Keep blocking. Keep ducking. Wait for them to lower the guard and bam - lights out. This whole thing of us outplaying teams is unquantifiable, because they're letting us have the ball.

Or, flip it on it's head, every one of those players has been in decline since they started playing Angeball.
Maybe the players aren't the problem?

And you believe Levy is not the one who tells how much to spend and where.
No fcukin top 6 club would want Wermer in the squad.

You have that 100% mixed up in my view.
But before I go deeper, I just wanted to say that I've read last few pages and I've enjoyed your argumentation on why you have strong trust in Ange. I can respect that!

But the way you phrased in the post you quoted makes it sound like scoring / executing chances is something external and a thing we cannot change. Something that magically is there or isn't.

I disagree with that part. If our players have more room, it actually gives them more time to find a solution and thus our finishing would automatically improve. It is not as black-and-white to compare just our current style of play and "counter-attacks". We could also play very similar to how we play now, just when we are in a position in which we can either chose to try to beat opposition player 1-vs-1 or play a one-touch pass to teammate in space OR slow down the tempo, take an extra touch and then pass it sideways or backwards.

We almost always pick the latter option. Which gives lot of time for opposition lines to get fully set.

Another point regarding being clinical is using players we have in best possible way. There you rightly pointed out Kane-Son duo. Which is absolutely best way to utilize player like Son - centrally, on the shoulder of targetman-like ST. And now we have it in form of Solanke. So why not try to play to Son best attributes instead of forcing him to totally unsuited role? I do not understand that to slightest.

To me saying "give some time" when there are in fact systematical and serious obstacles like that is not adequate solution. You don't "give some time" while headbutting into brickwall, do you? You should find alternative ways to get through it.

Not magically is there or isn't.

The opposite. You can't magically make it happen. You need to work on it and practice it. Add different patterns and movement triggers in until the players find something that works and click together. There is always the risk that some of them won't be able to click playing like this as well.

We had 2 maybe 3 counter attacks vs the gooners. Fucked them up as well. This idea that you choose to give up possession and counter attack would work with forwards who can't execute when they have more opportunities to create is probably the least logical one I've read on here.

People want to say there are miracle cure, simple, silver bullet answers. Unless you have the money for truly elite talent, in their prime, quick fixes don't exist from tactics that's for sure.

Where I do agree with everyone is that the front players were passing sideways too much and playing a bit scared. It reminds me of when Jose and Conte used to say that they weren't telling players to drop back and defend. Ange seems to be telling the players to be brave and have the belief to try things other than safe passes but they just aren't getting the habit atm.

He's currently 20/1 so outside odds for next manager.
It's more likely to be Dyche next than anyone else. Especially after 2 back to back losses having been 2 up.

I actually think there are chairman, of which Levy is one, who don't really like the optics of being the first to sack a coach in a season. And it's usually someone in Evertons position - bottom of the league, pointless and clueless that do it first.

Heck, we could get Dyche in to replace Ange

Perhaps but its just a question of time now. I prefer to rip the band aid off.

You must be watching a different game to the rest us.

Everton are the only team that had no plan for a while. Everyone else is getting something out of us because they have a plan.
You're really confusing possession and touches in the box with actual, quality football and chances.

The rest of us? You had some delusion of consensus that everyone agrees with you?

I am telling you for a fact that neither Howe nor Arteta wanted to give us as much domination of the ball and territory as we took and neither of them wanted to get turned over by our press repeatedly in dangerous situations, high up the pitch. The way we play does that to teams whether they want it or not. The only 2 teams that will have the ability to try and dominate us back will be City and Liverpool. The gooners at home if they are full strength probably as well.

What those teams do is look to to do is attack us at set pieces and try to get in behind when they can break our press. They also have to hope that we aren't clinical against them and create/take our chances. Atm both of those things are happening. If we find some chemistry up front, our results will change.
