Player Mikey Moore

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I just like players who are rarely bullied and Moore's physique surprises me.He is a bit younger than Gray but already heavier.
Hark back to the days of Bryan falling down everywhere.

Disagree.

Neymar, at his best was the only player in the last 15 years who created a real discussion with Messi and Ronaldo.

Just got to him as did the injuries.
A fantastic player.

I think people do him down because of his party lifestyle. Like if anyone commenting on that wouldn’t spend their life partying if they were a young, decent looking, millionaire athlete. No, they’d be helping out at the local soup kitchen every weekend and spending their life partying rest of their time reading stories to blind children. Definitely.

He's going to be special if he keeps his focus, and he seems to have the mentally to match his talent. Next season could be a real break out season for him. Although I think he can have an impact in the current one.

Mikey Moore's second-half performance last night made me feel like we won 4-0. We haven't seen that kind of aggression and tenacity in a winger for years. I'm suddenly getting flashbacks of Bale v Maicon.
Bale really was freakish. It felt like he was regularly injured and yet did so much. Amazing.

On Moore, there seems to be a real and definitive buzz.

The last time it felt like this for us was with Bale, because Alli took everyone by surprise.

No trajectory is ever without a hiccup, so we shall see how Moore goes, but little doubt he has now arrived.
Difference with Bale and Dele was that we bought them both...

Moore is homegrown... and we all know who the last homegrown superstar was....

Except Kane's emergence and trajectory to the first team was a slow burner... via multiple (and some unsuccessful) loans.
Moore has 'exploded' onto the scene.

If anything, taking into account his age, and that he's straight out of the youth team, this has more of a Hoddle feel about it... and that's saying something!!!

Ange's hand had been somewhat forced recently with the injuries to Odobert, Richy and Son. It's too early to start Moore in the PL.

He has also signed Werner twice now so probably felt a need to back his man.

But hooking him at HT surely signals the end for Werner at Spurs. He should arguably be 5th choice at LW now.
I think Son, Odobert and Moore in that order are our best LW options.... Werner can put the cones out in training for them!

Yang coming in soon too.
I think Yang's preferred side is RW... he's possibly being lined up as back up to Johnson...

But it's not a bad place to be in.

Especially as we still have Devine & Donley to come back and challenge for the AM positions NEXT season!!

WOW!

It’s probably just me but that second half had a “young Gazza” feel about it.
Fearless, dazzling footwork and determination.
Plus that X factor that gets the crowd on its feet with genuine excitement.

I think Ange has got this. Play him in the cups and bring him in when needed. He is 17, club and fans need to accept he will be up and down adapting, he will have poor games where he isn’t involved much.

I think for me the main positive is he has all the tools of a potential worldie player, great technical, good brain and fantastic balance. All things that are mostly natural and what end up separating the good from the elite. At 17 his speed and power won’t be that of a man (Rooney and Lamal are freaks for finishing growing up much earlier that average) and it interesting to think in 2 years when his speed and power are 20-30% more what he could do.

Also and arguably the best performing youngster we have isn’t even at this club. Vuskovic has been sensational. Moore and Vuskovic next season should be quality.

I think Neymar as a pure footballing talent was more gifted than CR7. Obviously he didn’t have the physique and discipline of CR7 but his ability was ridiculous. He could do virtually anything he wanted with the ball.

He’s still had a great career but he probably could have hit even higher heights with his talent.

I agree- and I'm glad Ange is bringing him a long slowly. I'm still surprised he got his first start! But he did well.

If anything, Barca's reputation for physically destroying their young prodigy talent is nothing to try and emulate. I'm all for the slow and steady approach, trying to protect Mikey's physical and mental development so that he can have a long and successful career with us.

So... you say that his playingtime should be managed?
Agreed.

And then you say...what?

According to my understanding playing 45 minutes on RW is still playing 45 minutes.
So yesterday it actually WAS a case where he still played lot of minutes, but in order to fit Werner in, he was playing 45 of the minutes just in less comfortable position for him.

Which DOES in fact seemed subpar considering the long term view.

I am not saying that between them two 100% of minutes should go to Moore.
But when there is such dilemma that both play and one has to play out of position, there should be zero question at all.
Moore is long-term player with high ceiling.
Werner is last resort player with absolutely no future with us past current season.
I used to see the same thing when BMJ played Lennon out on the left. Jol did it to aid his development. Wingers are often required to switch wings, particularly if they're not getting any joy against a fullback. Switching them is a waste of time though, if they have no experience in the position.

It's as much about aiding his development as anything else. It adds a different dimension and understanding to the player. Lennon was a better winger for the time BMJ put into him on the left.

Can we just talk about the first 5 minutes of the second half.

Mikey Moore was unfuckingbelievable, this 17 year old was given the responsibility to be brave, take on your opponent and create goals.

The team fed him the ball as he demanded it with a mentality like Micheal Jordan.

- Created 3 big chances all from dribbling past defenders.

- Dribbled over half the pitch beating 3 defenders, putting one of them on their ass, and almost found the final ball - which would of found Johnson on the run he makes at the back post most often.

- won 2 corners

That was in 5 minutes.

Got his standing ovation as he came off after 87mins.

Wow.

My instinct is the same as others.. That he's got to be protected etc.. But really isn't that kind of a myth? I can't think of a player that "should" have been elite, but didn't become so because he played too much when he was 17/18. I just think you've either got it to go all the way or you don't. If Mikey Moore has "it". Then him becoming a big part of our squad at a young age isn't going to ruin him.
Rooney?
