Match Premier League - Home to Aston Villa - 03/11 - 2pm KO

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It was definitely a brave decision.

I've not been Ange's biggest fan thus far but I admire the fact he's prepared to make these decisions. Takes some balls to sub your big names at such an early stage especially after they've just made a major contribution.

Would have been interesting to see how he'd have handled Harry Kane

Gutted to have to cancel my trip over for this but my young lad and his mate went for their first unaccompanied match after many years going with me. They had a ball - second half was great (wont mention the first!)
Sarr and Solanke were brilliant. Really good bounce back again second half and deserved the win.
Villa are over rated - said it all last year too we gave them 4th they didn't earn it and they won't get it again this season.

Proper 6 pointer that one - look at where we are now compared to where a loss today would have left us.
Delighted with the last two games after the Palace disaster. I think we may be growing slowly.

Hey, Hulk Hulk Where do you travel over from, if you don't mind me asking mate?

Firstly - good to catch up with Rocket Rocket , Shades Shades , East Mid Yid East Mid Yid and Spurshaker Spurshaker .
Most of the following points have been made, but my take was:
1. we played well throughout the game, but just more effective in the second half.
2. Pape was my MOTM, he was everywhere, but can't really fault anyone.
3. If we give Dom some decent service, he will score goals.
4. Ange did the right thing in taking Sonny off when he did. We need to manage his playing time, especially as he is just getting back from injury.
5. Villa are a dirty, time-wasting team and I hope whatever caused Cash to go off, leads to him being out for as long as he put Hot Rod out of the game.
6. Feel for Richy, hope his injury is not too serious.
7. Glad I didn't have to listen to that inane gooner commentating while I'm watching the game, in fact I'm glad I don't have to listed to any commentary. I know what I'm looking at, I don't need a so-called expert telling me.
8. The ref was useless, but don't know why I expected any better. 10 minutes extra time , all nearly from their time wasting antics.
9. Got my chicken and noodles to take away and enjoyed them when I got home in time to see the Strictly results show, to learn that one annoying scouser had been knocked out. And with the results yesterday, it's been a pretty good weekend.

Looking at his scoring attributes while at Bournemouth, today was a match made in heaven for him. Latching on to passes inside the area in and around the six yard box.

His natural strengths played to.

Aside from his goals, since he has been at the club his contribution has been immense.

Ha ha..... have you really got nothing better to do old man 😆

Good old Hindsight. I already called out my own post twice earlier in the thread matey.
Lots of Captain hindsights in here. Typically the same people who lack any vision and never stick their own knecks out.

Fact is corners are still an issue, we do still struggle against low block teams with pace who play quick break.
I couldn't see us scoring today, but the second half we upped the tempo and we were clinical and Ange had another blinder with his subs.
Overall a brilliant result and lets hope we can now push on and find some consistency

Seriously? I know you posted that at 2.47pm, so let's ignore today's 2nd half and look instead at the games he's played for us so far, where he has shown:

- coming deep to link up the play, then getting in the box for the final ball
- winning lots of useful free kicks by putting his body between opponent and ball, particularly when we're under pressure, a la Kane
- intelligent reading and passing, for example to where a player will be when the ball arrives, not where he is now (something that annoys me about many of our players), and with appropriate weight
- monstrous pressing

How on earth has anyone who has seen Solanke play this season not recognised what a huge asset he will be (and already is)? Mind-boggling... :/

He is so anti enic he cannot wait to find even the slightest way to set himself to rake Levy over the coals. Trust, if we would have lost or he wouldn't have scored it would have been straight to the ENIC thread and some kind of Levy won't splash out for a real striker that costs more blah blah blah

I thought Villa’s goal was a bit dodgy and lucky to not be called by the VAR. To me Roger’s impeded Vicario when he had his arm across him blocking him from moving????

Such a comprehensive match report have you been talking to bus-conductor bus-conductor ?

I just can’t believe how he spends his whole match day experience hoarding up countless quotes during the game in the hope he can start spraying them around in the post match discussion just to garner some positive reactions.

Surely there's more to life than this 🤷‍♂️. It's just not normal

Just enjoy the win like the rest of us for Heaven sake

I disagreed with you on Solanke, I think his work rate and the way he leads our press have both been integral to the way we play this season. But he came with a big price tag and strikers are always going to be judged by goals. So i could understand the frustration. We really needed that moment of class with the little chip, felt like he arrived today.

Jesus, we could be 3rd by next Sunday night!

We win at home against Ipswich.
Chavs and scum draw.
Forest lose to Toons
Villa lose away at Dippers.

All very possible. I'd go as far as to say, if we win, we get into the top 4.

:paraticiwink:

It's OK to disagree mate.
Watching it again on MotD I was even more impressed. It was the first time I thought he really looked at home playing for a big team. Finally looked like he belongs.
As a side note, he's the kind of player we should have had competing with and rotating with and at times even complementing Harry Kane.
I reckon we'd have won some trophies.

But I also watched him come and claim a few crosses today.

Very rarely will any player have a perfect game. He's a goalie...his mistakes are more visible.

However, to me he's the new scapegoat.

We conceded from a corner today that no keeper would have come to claim. Indeed, he saved a goal initially and the rebound was tucked away. Yet he's getting pelters.

He isn't perfect but he is much improved on last season...yet he's still being judged with last season in mind.
Agree - not Vics fault, more the poor two touches in front of him by Porro and Bents. I am all for our powerful headers like Drag and Solanke manning front post and the middle to attack corners and get them away to fuck.

It's not really hindsight, have you not been watching our games this season? His work rate and hold up play is fantastic plus he can take people on and has plenty of goals in him.

Can you see now why Ange wanted him so much and what he brings to the team?
