My post came out completely wrong, and tried to quote a small passage, where I was querying the fact that Emry was 53 yesterday. He must've had a hard life!

.
Ah, the universal last 16 games metric.

Wonder if that conveniently cuts off at the Newcastle game. Before which we had 7 wins and 3 draws in the previous 12. (Inc beating Villa 4-0).

We can always cherry pick.

Villa have 5 wins in their last 13 league games. Spurs have 6 wins (and more cleansheets too)

We've got a better defence. Better attack. And when we beat them Sunday we'll be 2 points behind them before they have to travel to Anfield.
My mistake!
I didn't mean to quote the whole of that 16 match blah blah post: I was trying to quote the part where it says Emry was 53 yesterday; I think he might be telling porkies about his age, or he's had a hard life 🤷‍♂️.

Show me the stat saying how we lost control of the game when Maddison came on and then shut the fuck up.

I knew it was out there, you just have to know where to look

His positioning was poor because Maddison took it so quick that Martinez didn't have time to position himself.
And Madison moved the ball ax slightly... Fair play to madds for spotting it... But Martinez.,and in fact any goalkeeper should be ready once the whistle goes... Martinez wasn't, for any pro goalkeeper thats poor.. for a prem goalkeeper it's totally unacceptable, and he absolutely will know it

I think it was solanke who went to the rhs post and kicked it a couple of times, almost to show where it was going. Totally threw the keeper. Also love how solanke celebrated when Johnson took the goal off his foot. He has done the same before. Team player
Yep Same could be said for richi. Playing the ball ax to Dom for his second ... Given everything it must have been tempting for him to have a go for goal
... But no he did the right thing for the team.. huge big up to the feller.

Fact is corners are still an issue
Every team is struggling with corners this season, and will continue to unless the refs decide to penalise obstruction on the keeper.

We've scored 2 and conceded 2 from corners in the league so far. Yes we can improve but the same could be said for our box defending, press resistance, attacking rotations, offensive set pieces, etc.

Lots of Captain hindsights in here. Typically the same people who lack any vision and never stick their own knecks out.

Fact is corners are still an issue, we do still struggle against low block teams with pace who play quick break.
I couldn't see us scoring today, but the second half we upped the tempo and we were clinical and Ange had another blinder with his subs.
Overall a brilliant result and lets hope we can now push on and find some consistency
Corners are not an issue this season.

You're still including last season in your thinking.

Not an issue so much defensively, but our offensive corners leave a lot to be desired. We overuse the second man routine and barely ever land the ball around the penalty spot & give Romero, Drag etc something to attack.

Scoring plenty of goals but a bit of creativity there would not go astray.

Ah offensively can be improved I agree.

I just assumed it was another post trying to say we have a problem with corners cos we've dared to concede two goals from them this season.

We look slightly better defensively than last season. Still not title contender defense, but not all over the shop. If we can keep it under about 40 GA for the season we will get top four.

As much as I thought bringing Richarlison on was bonkers, I salute Ange for having the nuts to take off Son. I now reckon it wasn't Werner coming on because of the slight strain he felt on Wednesday. Moore would still have made more sense to me but hey ho, Richarlisondid great for the goal he set up.

Guessing Moore is on for a start vs Galatasaray on Thursday, if Richy is injured there's a good chance Sonny will start up top with Solanke coming on early in the 2nd half given he played the full match against Villa, will be interesting to see how a makeshift defence of Dragusin and Davies copes with a more rotational side in front of them, wonder if they have played together quite a bit in training as have to imagine VDV and Romero are largely drilled together?

Actual Coach: 1
A League Blagger: 4

... and your point is...?

Thank fuck you're not our Manager then!

WELL THAT aged well!
I'm over the moon at the change in our fortunes in the second half.

Solanke scored a couple, but I'm afraid he isn't an ambitious signing and maybe a waste of a transfer fee. He's too slow and will score on the end of good moves, but I wonder if an academy graduate wouldn't manage the same or better return after a similar bedding in period.

You see, the irony is that a large transfer fee secures the player a period of perseverance from the club. An academy grad gets a few opportunities from the bench and then either breaks through or is sold.

A 65m fee means you get a season of starts before there's a risk of being sold.

Villa were poor second half but we were good

I'll suck it up today
Cheer up D.
It's not all doom and gloom.
The next fixture is away to Galatasaray on Thursday and they have a 9-1-0 start in the Supa Liga.
Plus our injuries and the rotations we'll have to make.....wouldn't be surprised if we lose this one.

That gives you 4 full days to whip out the whet-wheel and get all those knives razor sharp.🤣
