Galatasaray might very well have been a fortress or stronghold of Galatians that Turks conquered and incorporated as part of their domain. She was the force to be reckoned with behind Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent.

Hey! Let me clarify on this as an Istanbulite Gala fan:)

1- Yes, the name of the district, "Galata" is originated from the Celtic tribe who lived in that area long long time ago. (Karaköy is the name of the lower, seaside district)
2- "Saray" means palace, so needless to say, Galatasaray(ı) means "Galata palace", or "Palace of Galata".
3- However, the name of Galatasaray has nothing to do with fortresses . During the Ottoman period, Galatasaray was established as an educational institution to train individuals proficient in foreign languages (primarily French) to help the empire open up to the world and comprehend developments in the Western world (the school's origins date back 550 years, but let's not turn the topic into a history lesson..) It was created to train senior officials for the Ottoman administration and was located near Galata.

The school is still one of the most prestigious educational institutions in the Republic of Türkiye and has trained many artists, statesmen, diplomats, sportsmen and scientists for the country.

4- The football club was founded in 1905 by students of the school during a dull literature lesson and has continued to thrive to this day.

I'm looking forward to this tonight , everyone talks about the likes of the Atmosphere at Anfield but thats a myth , tonight will be a proper football game atmosphere wise and I want to see what players have the minerals to not let it distract them!
We are a bit light on the ground with injuries so I would 100% take a draw now with no more injuries if I could, however regardless if the result this will give Ange a good opportunity to see the mentality of our squad and how they take to playing in a hostile environment.

I realise the first 8 go through to the next round, and the next 16 have a knockout.
So, when the final16 are decided for the next round, do they have ratings or pots depending on where you finished?

Could we potentially try playing Bergvall or Madders at left wing? I think the 2 of them in midfield together is way too light for a tough away game like this. I think Sarr and Bissouma should start behind one of them.
