We consistently play out from the back, there's never any deviation, other teams know exactly what we're going to do and counter it, Ange doesn't have a plan B. Yesterday at 2-0 down there was no urgency or attempt to get the ball up field quickly just the same languid clueless system with players having no idea how to break through a low block. What are they doing in training at attacking set pieces? how many corners went straight to Muric? From what I've seen the team isn't getting any consistent message on how to defend and defending corners is still a problem. We go into games far to open (especially away) its a kamikaze system that doesn't work in this league. Ange needs a massive rethink
Pretty much every team plays out of the back now. Saw Villa being pressed to death by Liverpool and turning it over time and time again but still trying to play out of the back.

I don't think that's an us problem. That's just the prevailing sentiment in football at the moment.

hes not the last defender but hes the player whos in a position to stop the attempt at goal. he doesnt because hes fucking scared of getting hurt! fucking pathetic.

could you imagine what would happen to him pulling out like that if he played for a proper manager who was a winner? instantly dropped and shamed.

imagine if he done that playing for alex ferguson? i dont think hed pull the club shirt on again.
But Ange is a winner…..he keeps telling us.

Ange has said he leaves most of the training to the coaches. Add to this the fact he never bloody well moves or shouts instructions but stands in his technical area ,motionless and speechless. I don’t think he has a clue now.

He seems to leave MOST things to other people...

Wouldn't surprise me if Ryan Mason had his hands in Ange's pockets next home game!

You can play any defence system you like if you have VDV's pace to get you out of trouble.
Walker has been doing it for City and England for years (and us!).
Without that pace any mistake Romero, Dragusin or Davies make risk punishment.

The types of goal we are mostly conceding are not the same as last season though, they are not the type of situation where VDV would be expected to make a big recovery against a player running through a wide open pitch.

Every game we are now conceding from a cross where players either shit themselves or go to sleep. Getting defenders back is not a problem, look how many defenders are back when Ipswich scored their goals. It’s a simple lack of composure and aggression in defending. Players caught ball-watching and not getting close to people. Different problem to last season.

My late grandfather was a winger and when he used to talk to me about football he (often) bemoaned the lack of players who could “beat a man”.
I think dribbling i.e beating a man is the hardest skill in football. It’s what separates the very good from the great. At some point coaches have decided it’s too hard and too rare to develop players who can do that so we have a lot of system players but less real individuality in modern football.
