Player Timo Werner

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Just imagine the feeling being oppositions back - hello Walker - with worn out legs, and you see this guy is entering..

Can we please stop the arguments on what he brings to the table for us?

Will not always be a starter, but my, what a lethal weapon from the bench

Im changing my mind on him. Never going to be a great finisher but his all round game is fairly good, he’s always looking to be direct as well. Think there’s a case for saying he’s our most effective wide man.

As soon as he received the ball with Walker covering him I was saying to myself ‘run the cunt’ and I was gobsmacked when he left him for dead and put a great cross for Brennan to finish!

Made my day!!

Werner off the bench against tired teams is an underrated weapon! He is probably not good enough to start and if he starts against Roma on Thursday then I can imagine him frustrating the hell out of us again. But lets appreciate what a brilliant sub he is for the final 10/15 mins of games. No full back wants that smoke when they are tiring

No - I’m sorry but he is not good enough , coming on when you are 3-0 up is one thing but had we been chasing a game 2-1 down I don’t want to see Timo coming on the pitch, it’s nothing personal he just isn’t good enough!
Yes he has pace , yes he can score or assist but he is the most inconsistent player I have seen in a spurs shirt for a while , for every goal he scores he misses 10 that he should be scoring and when we have players like Mickey Moore coming through paying Timo £170k a week is just crazy!!!!!!

I’d much rather see how Mickey Moore develops , if fit then Moore is coming on instead of Timo yesterday.
Unless Timo wants to take a pay cut there is no way we are keeping him sat on £170k a week.

Werner will be gone at the end of the season and Moore, Odobert and Kang-in Lee will takeover and push each other - Werner was used as a stopgap whilst we waited for these players to develop and become first team players.

These people are frankly quite mad. As a fan base Levy gives us exactly what we deserve. One run and pull back against a demoralised team and the brains trust are extending this utter waste of space. I'm horrified.

I still bin him the moment we can. We need an elite wide player not a break the glass in an emergency Adama Traore tribute gimp.
🤣

I think if utilised well, he CAN be and asset .. but no, never a starter for me.

Well he came on when we were 3/4-1 up against West Ham and stunk the place out...
Yesterday was JUST his day!

He'll be good for us for the rest of this season
- with Odobert and Richarlison out probably for a couple of months still, we need Werner
- very unlikely to be anyone significantly better available in January (few/almost no good players move in Jan)
- Werner at Spurs allows us cover to bring through Mikey Moore via cameos off bench and a small number of starts this season. Same cover for Odobert when returning slowly from current injury. And the incoming Yang
- almost certainly no loan recall back to Leipzig in January, why would we want to pay him off when we gain from the above points this season.

Very likely we will be trying to upgrade in summer with a winger who is both speedy, able to cross/pass and a better goalscoring/assist record - its the limited number of goals/assists which is why we need to upgrade (this season he's scored 1 goal and got 2 assists in all competitions), aged 28 now and on massive wages.

His assist for our goal today was a real beauty. Not every player is able to see that option, so also a proof of good vision.

Should have stayed on the pitch today, was working good and causing more trouble than Son and Brennan
