Player Destiny Udogie

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He's still a player but he really needs legit competition, he's so lazy man, relies on his physicality too much and doesn't do the basics...he needs another good player to really push him and give him a kick up the arse.

What a change in destiny for Udogie since the beginning of last season!
At the beginning of Angelos' time at Spurs, last season, both pundits and Spurs fans were raving about Udogie being one of the best young LB not just in the EPL but in Europe; clubs like Real M. & Man City were being linked to him (Udogie being the solution to the LB issue Man City have had for several seasons) and his price tag was said to be around £70-80m and yet Spurs fans were totally against any potential sale.
Now so many (most?) Spurs fans just want him out and replaced...
No they don't - just so many on this forum (which, with respect, at times like these is hardly representative of our wider fan base). Early return from injury and lack of an experienced left centre back to cover and support have caused more of his problems in my opinion.
It's easy to lose sight of the fact that injuries don't just affect the position of the injured player - they impact the whole tactical and positional play of the team. After almost 60 years of supporting Spurs I'm as gutted as anyone to see the results over the last 6 weeks or so, but it's clear that having so many defensive injuries have devastated the team. It can't be a coincidence (surely?) that the results and performances have been so poor since Van de Van and Romero (and Davies) have been injured? Other defensive players have had to be be slotted in and unfortunately either aren't up to the demands of the way Ange wants the team to play or have been overplayed - but necessarily so.
Man City have been in freefall mainly because of 1 injury to Rodri and Woolwich are now in a panic because Saka will miss a few games and yet despite our injury crisis some fans seem to think we should still be performing at the top level every week and battling it out with Liverpool at the top of the table. How would those two cope with so many first team starters out for 6 weeks +?
I don't know whether or not Ange will still be in post at the end of the season, but in a way I hope he is. I do believe that with a full strength squad and maybe an addition or two in January, his tactics and this team can win something despite the predicament we have been in for so long now. However I'm a pragmatist - it doesn't look good for him just now, my concern is that just replacing him isn't going to change the injury crisis nor the fact that we have a fatigued playing staff. I'm not a believer in 'new manager bounce' - it might work for teams that hate the manager and have downed tools but that doesn't seem to be the case with us.
Que sera sara I guess - I just want to see us win a game again!

No real loss, Spence has been better at LB anyway.

Udogie has been getting on my tits for a while.

He's been poor defensively and going forward he reminds me of Lucas Moura. *Dribble dribble dribble.. oh shit what do i do with it"

I don't really blame him though. Never suited to play inverted. It was a fun experiment and total waste of time.

Needs a rocket up his arse and a better attitude. I can’t defend a player who jogs about and can’t be fucked defending right.
Why people want to defend laziness is beyond me.
Same with Johnson yesterday, gets us a pen and scores but all the jogging about and the mediocrity is put to one side.
These types will let you down more than they won’t.
Every player that puts on our jersey gets our support but when they don’t give a fuck then they are getting fuck all plaudits from me when they produce every now and again.
Our acceptance as a club for this type of attitude is the reason we find ourselves constantly in the same place. Trophyless!!!

As i keep saying though and others here. The results werent hectic with a full squad. Are we forgetting that. Plus Ange complained last year we played too few games to get players used to his system. Now we're playing too many, too many injuries we're too tired. All im hearing is excuses

You can’t totally discount the fans on here on this forum as not being “representative”. And, since I was writing on this forum it was those fans I was referring to.

I agree that having so many injuries among the CBs - and among them both LCB (van de Ven & Davies) being out - hasn’t helped Udogie.
And, yes, Udogie has also been injured but that doesn’t justify some of the defensive mistakes he’s committed and him jogging back when he should be sprinting back.

Man City is not in free fall just because of Rodri but he’s a major reason for their loss of form, yes. But they’ve also had de Bruyne out and he’s not been the same since he returned. And their best CB, Ruben Dias, has also been out. And Walker’s age is starting to take its toll.
Plus, most of their players have had so much success that they’ll let their guard down.

If Spurs had got “results” vs bottom team like Ipswich (at home!), West Ham, Palace, Bournemouth (and been able to hold onto a 2-0 lead vs Brighton) they would actually have been close to the top.

I am with you that I hope Angelos will manage to turn it around but the downward spiritual started before the injury crisis.
Spurs started out very well in his first season, but then fell apart after that loss to Chelski – where he played used high-line tactics when being down to 9 outfield players. It was thought of as charming and brave back then, but in retrospect looks as if that was the turning point when teams started to figure out Angelos’ tactics. And it showed how naïve Angelos was, and still is, and that his lack of experience at top-level is costing Spurs. Before Spurs he had no top-league experience neither as a player nor as a coach in any capacity.
He’s employing a system without having the player for it – just like Conte did. It's glaring that Spurs need:
2 WF who're quality at 1vs1
OMF who's reliable and will turn up when the going gets tough.
A tough leader on the pitch.

yep, deserves a chance under a proper manager, but his end product is concerning as is his defending. porro isnt an inverted FB either but has still displayed good end product. udogie is a worry. fortunately for us hes that type of player that people for some reason think is good without actually watching him properly, so could probably get a decent fee for him, the only issue with that is wed need people at the club to see if for what it is....

Think that's part of the story. Wouldn't be surprised if they are microdosing HGH or some kind of peptides to stay injury free and recover faster between games.
Microdosing HGH would be pointless, but it’s almost impossible to detect as it’s naturally producing so if they were taking it I’m sure they would take a dosage that could actually benefit them.
Salbutamol would help a lot with cardio, but wouldn’t protect the muscles from breaking down. I believe we are sprinting too much and not getting enough time to recover.

Fully expected, he struggled to walk off the pitch.

Ange is trying his hardest to create a squad full of Ryan Sessegnons. Actually didn't Ryan come back from a hamstring last season only to immediately re-injure himself in an U21 match?

We are going to ruin the legs of the entire squad if we keep Ange for the rest of the season.

So Sessegnon wasn't injury prone before Ange? and didn't develop his injury issues at this club, training on our world class training facilities, with a very similar medical department treating those injuries?

To say we have a huge issue with injuries and especially recuperating players from injury is beyond captain obvious. To blame the current manager because he plays an intense style of football that often causes small injuries during the adaptation phase is just weird.
